Doug Deeper by Maurice

[raw]
made by Maurice for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

Quick attempt at a Dig Dug clone.

Only had a few hours this weekend but wanted to get back into doing Jams.

The deformable terrain was fun and done at a pixel level which made some of the collisions also fun...

I need a good dig dug clone in my life. Would love to see you finish this!

So is there a win condition? The mechanics seem solid, but there are some oddities (you can shoot the inflater through things, sometimes the pixel perfect collisions to funny things, etc) but a nice demo. Unless I'm missing something?

I like your falling rock mechanic and the hose reel-out. Nice start at a dig-dug clone. Maybe taking something about the original game and twisting it a bit would make for a fresh take on it. Thanks for submitting.

I had a lot of fun (I whiped the hole map) but I am sad that there is no end or something after :( I hope you will finish this one day :)

@minibobbo I had some pretty tight time constraints due to other commitments etc so yeah, no win condition yet. Will hopefully get a chance to finish it off in the coming weeks.

Inflater collisions, SFX and music were what I had hoped to get done but only so much I could squeeze into 6 hours :D

Nice and fun!

I don't know the original game, but I had fun exploding and splatting the two enemies!
the destroyable terrain feels very smoothy, and cool :)

Looks cute but there isn't a whole lot to do, wish it had win and lose conditions.

Ok, you can replicate dig dug mechanics, now we need a game :D

The dynamic terrain is cool! Sorry you didn't have time to really finish it like you said 😅 Believe it or not but I'm one of those weirdos who's never actually played Dig Dug or even really knows how it works, so instructions would have been nice haha. But what you got done was neat! c:
