HackDeck by Kerdelos

HackDeck : Deckbuild your way through the network 💻 !

🖱️ : Drag and drop floppy disks 💾 on closeby node to progress toward the final node.

⬅️⬆️⬇️➡️ : Use the arrow keys to move the camera.

Beware of CPU cycles, you only have a limited number of those between two "checkpoint" nodes. If you run out you lose. Discarding floppy disks also costs you a CPU cycle.

If you progress through an hostile node with a "move" you'll receive a "junk" floppy. So be sure to use "Take over" against hostile nodes. If you progress through a firewall with a "move" or "take over" card, you won't be able to draw a floppy for the next turn. Be sure to use "Breach" against firewalls !

I was planning to make it for the compo but in the end the 72h were quite needed so here is a jam entry !

Hope you enjoy the game :)

Really fun game! And also really challenging haha, could'nt finish it I'm always stuck near the end! But everything looks great, like the artstyle and the music ! Good job :) (Especially for a one man army )

I am stuck in the start of 2nd draw pile (I hope that's the level equivalent), couldn't do anything but enjoy the music :) Visuals also look amazing, great job!

Interesting concept ! I did not manage to finish the game even with multiple attempts, but only the ending section was giving me trouble. Until the last checkpoint I have the feeling that you just have to move on as there are no penalties, but for the ending... maybe I'm just too bad x)
I loved the art and lights it gives a cool geek ambiance. Also you had sound effects and a little music so this is a quite complete submission ! Btw the main menu looks awesome ^^

Very cool idea, I love the idea of hacking your way through a network like this. I also like the idea behind CPU cycles, though it is quite difficult to get through in time. I couldn't make it to the end, so I don't know if there are any other levels past this, but if there are, I think the first level's CPU cycles should be boosted a bit so players can get a handle on how to move around, what the different nodes/cards do and how to counteract them, etc. Right now it feels too punishing to explore. Great visuals and music, awesome job!

Nice little game with an interesting pitch. The gameplay could use some animation to make clearer where you moved and what changed (card played/lost, cpu gain/lost). I didn't found the scan card to be that usefull  .

Pretty cool game, I love the visuals and the sound. Using disks instead of cards in genius. There could be more feedback when thing changes. I tried at least 10 times the final section of the level and I could not do it, it seems that only a precise draw of disks in the correct order could do it.

First of all: the game is gorgeous. The visuals are cool, right from the start menu, the music is outstanding and perfectly fits the game.
It took more time than anticipated to understand the mechanics. You really need to add a proper help for the game. Also, the interface is not explained properly, like how to use a floppy, how to move the camera, and so on. Once you add the help card and maybe some feedback for the player's actions, the game will rise and shine in all its glory as it deserves. I loved it once I got the gist of it.

Nice game and Nice idea. The music is really pleasing. To my idea, it misses a bit more tutorial but this was cool nevertheless. GG

I got to the end!

Pros:

- Clear objectives and gameplay
- Variety of movement
- Properly scoped difficulty
- Variety of powerups-cards
- Moody soundscape
- Cool graphics

Cons:

- A slight better movement indication would be better, yet it's hard to say at the moment how exactly I would change it
- Maybe a more aggressive enemy nodes would be cool (do they even move / expand?)

Overall, a job well done!
