Do you want to become the very best Purgatory representative? Get promoted, go deeper into the hell hierarchy and, maybe, meet the boss in person? Then we have just the right mission for you : judging new souls and deciding whether to send them in Heaven or in Hell!

Using your trusty PURGATORY CORP tablet, you'll have to analyse each profile and guess using one of its two buttons: Go to Hell or Go to Heaven. Simple, right? But, how do you know if one of those puny humans should go to Hell or Heaven? That's a good one. Each person shown to you will have a list of characteristics and actions. Some are good, some are bad, and some are just useless trivia about themselves... If they have a majority of good characteristics, fine, this one will go to Heaven and be bored for eternity. However, if they have more bad ones than good ones, they'll join us, and get tortured for eternity. That's pretty good, huh?

But that's not all! Among those lost souls, there are also some angels and demons in disguise! If they REALLY look like a demon, like with red eyes or horns, send them back to hell regardless of its actions. Same thing if they look like an angel, with wings or a halo, send them to heaven, whatever they've done in their lives. We don't want those mood-killers.

Here's the (devil) deal: if you work hard and guess correctly everyone's fate, you will likely get a promotion and join the deepest levels of Hell! But if you guess wrong (or are just too slow and inefficient), you will go straight back up with the interns! All you have to do is work hard, play hard!

This is a great variation on the theme (I should, I had similar ideas for my game :upside_down:). It's supported by some really nice 2D visuals, the end comic is a really nice touch.
For the gameplay, it reminded me of something like Reigns, you could easily make a mobile version of this. The fast hectic way to the bottom doesn't become too hard even though you have much less time to make decisions towards the end.

Really nice spin on the theme. Had a lot of fun playing it, would have loved too have seen a small bit more variation in what people did in their life. Felt like the same options pop up very often. Other than that, the game was a joy to play and the art was awesome ^^

@zhanna Some actions have no moral value, such as hating country music or being afraid of spiders. Country music is still cool though :musical_note:

I really liked the concept, it was fun to read all the possible actions/decisions they made in their life! And great ending :)) Cool that you made a face generator :o I'm not sure I've seen horns, but definitely wings

Very nice game. It is definitely not the best usage of the theme, but the graphics kinda make up for it.
Gameplay is not very fun, but enough fun for it to be a nice one-time experience.

Overall, good job.

Having the right amount of characteristics is hard to reach: When you have to judge very fast (at the later levels) you have to recognize them in a very short time, so having repetitive ones helped us balancing this point. But I have to agree that having some more options! ;)

- Always grateful for a Linux build :)
- Awesome art style
- Face generator was cool
- Kinda hard to tell what the right option was sometimes, contradicting actions like "cheated on lover" and "faithful to lover" right next to each other.

Incredibly cute concept! I really enjoyed it! My *only* complaint is that clicking during the ending cutscene immediately takes you back to the main menu.

@chewiecb I totally understand. Basically, these actions cancel themselves, so you have to guess according to the remaining characteristics ;)

Nice entry! It was really fun to play, and the pace becomes positively hectic towards the end! I agree that sometimes the actions of the characters are a bit paradoxical or may feel out of context, but overall I found it still was intuitive enough to make the right guess. I liked the idea of the random face generator and it works really well for the game (i played three times just to check the random variants it produced).

you did a really nice job. It was damn entertaining. I strived to reach the end, and I did. At first I seemed a bit random sometime. even now I'm not sure the perfect way of give the right weight to sins. But here you are: you got me playing your game desiring to finish it. Thanks for particiipating!

J'ai eu un peu de mal au début mais après quelque minute j'ai réussi à terminer le jeu, la courbe de difficulté est bien réalisé, j'ai beaucoup aimé la fin du jeu. Un très bon jeu de game jam ! Vous pouvez être fier.

This was a cool idea, Tinder for the Devil! I liked the concept and the art, and the moral ambiguity of each character, heh. I also liked that angels and devils lurked among the humans, that was a neat little extra challenge. Really great idea and execution, loved it!

Good idea, beautifully implemented and the ART, oh my, you guys took that really seriously, those drawings were gorgeous for a 3 days challenge :o !

Also, finally a game were the "humor" rating is justified x). "Pirated a game ? STRAIGHT TO HELL BRO" xD

@stin Glad you liked the game! You might have missed some angel wings and aura on the profile card. We designed it so that if you encounter an angel or a demon, the profile card will always incline them to go to the opposite fate (so that you always have to pay attention to the face to answer correctly).

Interesting idea, it was a bit hard to read the text at some points. So even though I read the description saying to allow NPC into heave if they have more good deeds, I kept sending a few to hell because they burned a baby alive; basically I thought the serisousness of the deed mattered when it doesn't, so probably made that a bit clearer

Overall, I actually enjoyed the game. The art style is good, some weird looking faces were generated; seeing ones with the big cutesy eyes on a bald was funny to look at. Good job :thumbsup:

Lack of graphical cohesion, but REAAAAAALLY FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN 🤤!
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the ending, it was so unexpected! Really cute game I love it!

What an innovative concept! (It reminds me a bit of 'Papers, Please'.) Great idea, well executed. The art is fantastic and the game fun to play. I was surprised at how fast-paced it is, but this just adds to the fun.

Great game ! C'était vraiment sympa comme jeu bravo ! Le décor évolutif et les phrases du style "a brulé un bébé" ajoute un petit truc attachant au jeu, j'aime beaucoup. Le jeu est dynamique et le tout s'enchaîne vraiment bien, avec une courbe de difficulté vraiment sympa ! En plus l'humour du jeu est vraiment une grosse réussite, c'est un 5/5 là dessus.

Je pense qu'ajouter un moment où le profil de la personne va à gauche ou à droite, un peu en mode Tinder (mais des enfers du coup) ça serait ultra drôle.

Bravo c'est un super jeu de Jam, j'ai passé un bon moment !
