Great work! Feels like a classic mobile game

F-ing excellent entry. So polished, plays well, has a great vibe and great gameplay loop. You could publish this to the app store as it is. The fact that this is a jam game only makes it more impressive.
Edit: I've been playing for about a half hour now and i'm still amazed, there are so many powerups to unlock and I haven't reached the bottom yet. I seemed to have run into a glitch where my coins don't increase but i'm still having fun.

@death-is-cold Thank you so much for taking the time to play! I ended up spending a lot of time implementing new upgrades and not enough playtesting the game, I got afraid a lot of people would not get to see them. The coins don't count when you crash, only when you return safely (which is why I added a last minute option to press tab and return immediately to save your money). There is an upgrade that adds a little safe package with some of the money you lost when you crashed and you can recover it, souls style (I'm wondering how many people will miss that completely lol). At this point I've mostly changed my mind and think you should just always keep the money you get, but I guess that's how game jams kinda turn out.

Great game, well polished and feels good to play. The music was good, though there seems to be some glitches in the audio, not sure if that was just on my end. Anyway, nice job on this! :)

I had a hard time with the controls. It was not very intuitive to me. Felt backwards.

It's a really nice upgrade loop focused game. I like the art and the very nice use of 3D models. I think some of the upgrades in the middle are a little too spaced out for my tastes. And I think the final enemy obstacles were a little too easy to dodge. But other than that, a very well put together game.

Very cool graphics! But controls were not easy to understand.

I loved that you had a game loop, but I also felt that my player skill didn't really matter much. I just needed to play more in order to get the upgrades to go deeper

Great job, it really feels like a real mobile game and it really looks cool. For me, the controls were a bit tricky at first (it confused me that the diver appears on the other side of the screen once you leave the screen). But I liked the incentive to play again and again!

Nice game, played it for a long time. However, the controls somehow feel a bit wrong and I had a lot of trouble to steer the submarine well. I'm not sure what exactly the problem was though. Also, the end does not make much sense, why am I suddenly above the surface (or is it a cave?) again?

Nice game, played it for 1-2 hours. You did a great job, however the controls feel a bit wrong (or i am just bad with those controls :joy: ). But overall a great job!!

Good arcade style game! Really like the way the game played once I got the magnet, it made me feel powerful. The ship was cute and the music was really chill. Good job overall! <3

I finally reached rock bottom! Really enjoyed the core gameplay loop, though fuel certainly feels a bit too restrictive early on, and the speed upgrades didn't feel like they really helped, probably because of the fixed rate of turning. Am I crazy for thinking this might be easier on an inverted axis? For some reason my brain kept trying to turn that way even though I seldom play games that control like that. Really liked the ability to loop around the edges, and the music was really chill too. A few things were also a bit unclear early on like the fuel icon being a lightning bolt but the refill being an oil drop, still played it for like an hour though so clearly none of these things could stop me from having my share of fun. Good job and keep up the good work!

This was so good! The only thing I didn't understand was the ending..

Game very good! the music matches very well, but I think the sounds should be worked on more so as not to give that clip.I collected 750 points and died and it was at that moment that I realized that when you die you don't win! AHHH! that was very frustrating XD and I didn't understand the ending. Anyway, I really liked the game and I think it should go ahead for mobile!

Really nice experience. Love the aesthetics and music. Could totally see this being a mobile game I would play off and on for a while. It took me a few runs to realize I could go slow and didn't have to rush to the bottom. After realizing that it felt like there was no reward for taking the risk of going fast. Maybe if there was an air limit or is the score multiplier was based on some time streak?

@eharp I thought about that, what I tried was making it so you consume more fuel when accelerating until you get to a certain speed. If you go in short bursts it will not be very fuel-efficient. But the effect ended up being subtle and I didn't have much time to tweak it or even explain it anywhere.

Edit: Also to add on that, if you die you lose your coins, so you may want to be careful. But going faster let's you get deeper where there is a higher chance for better items. Something else I didn't have time to make clear in-game.

Such a good entry. I loved the gameplay loop of getting upgrades and going deeper.

As other people said, it would work really well on mobile... I think even better than on a pc, as I'm not the biggest fan of the controls (although they feel good!).

The music was very, very good as well.

I would just say that I would have liked to see the total points I have when the diving part starts and not just the points obtained in that current dive.

Wonderful game! It was frustrating at times but it kept me playing. Great game design with the upgrades, how they become more expensive, how you can always choose... Pleasant musical score and sound effects.

I ended up playing this for far more than I'd like to admit, but even after playing for a long period of time, I still felt that the number one most frustrating thing was the controls feeling inverted. It was rather difficult to actually maneuver the vessel where I wanted.

That said, I still ended up having a lot of fun, and really enjoyed the way that, as you actually got deeper, the environment changed to reflect what was happening. Getting the speed boost and magnet were game changers!
