Hi! My very first game - I chose something reasonably simple to implement to get used to tooling and the like!

Tools used: Godot, FL Studio

You control a white rectangle (arrow keys or left/right mouse button)

Avoid patterns of obstacles as you fall Deeper and Deeper (ayy)

Inspired (heavily) by games like Super Hexagon.

N.B. I've heard (pun intended) the audio is a bit crackly in the HTML5 version. If you feel up for it, there's a Windows executable available for download on the itch.io page.

Solid game! Aesthetics are very nice and the music is fitting (also love the death sound :D). Having different obstacle patterns and color pallettes was a nice touch. It's just too hard for me though :D Best I could manage was ~2200.

It's nice! Grats on first game too. I always 'eef' around 1200!

The mouse movement is intuitive and quite satisfying to use! And the death sound is amazing. Congrats on your first game!

That death sound caught me off guard and made me laugh lol. Also this is very well paced. Just unforgiving enough that it pushes me to try again. The music makes it even better! 2674 is best I got and I want to hear the rest of the music! >:[

I loved super hexagon and this has a lot of the things that made it great- the gameplay is fast and unforgiving, yet fair. Mistakes feel like they're your own fault and just make you want to go again. Music is great too :)

I'm not really good at those dodging games x)
Congrats to finish a game for your first jam. KISS concept is working great.
Only one bad point: the music is too much repetitive and broke a little bit the rythm of the game.

@curtis-pelissier Thanks for giving it a go and for leaving that feedback  Good point - for post-jam changes I could start the music at different points in the track, or I could make a few more tracks for the game to cycle through. (I could also have spent more time on the music or done a better job there  Is developer music a thing?)

Simple but smooth and fun! It's a hard game, but I think that that will make it more intriguing for many players.

An excellent first game! I found it difficult to progress very far, which ordinarily wouldn't bother me too much except that the music kept resetting, and I wanted to hear more of it. XD

Really like the "oof" sound.. but: I heard it too frequently :frowning2: but that's just me being a total scrub in those kind of games.

It's a good game, the graphics are minimalist and quite pretty, I would see this game more on mobile than on PC

Good first game. The gameplay is solid. The controls feel good and the hitbox are not too big.
The only thing I would change is the repeat of the music after the death (it can be annoying after the 100th try)
Good job !

Oof :)

I made it to 1708 on my best attempt!

Nice, simple game with a pleasing color palette. I think if it had started off a *little* slower, it would have been easier to pick up. I died a bunch right off the bat until I got the rhythm of the game.

Good work on finishing your first tame!

Very challenging, and pretty fun. The "oof" sound is a nice addition lol. Imo a good thing to add would be a place to see your high score so you can try and beat your best more easily.

Here's how I've done so far (over a couple dozen or so tries, I'm not very good :P although I'm getting a bit better the more I play :D)

Honestly, great job with this! You should be proud for your first game made, it was actually a lot of fun and definitely addicting! I played through a number of times wanting to get further and further. The controls were tight, the music was great, I liked the vfx on the fall. It was also great that it became harder as the music picked up, very well timed. Nice job!
