Ludum Dare 48: Deeper and Deeper by somnolentPumpkin

For this Ludum Dare, me and my partner made a short dungeon crawling game! You're trapped in a forest, and the only way out is through a sewer pipe.

It's a short experience, which only takes a few minutes to beat (unless you're bad at platforming).

Very nice atmospheric game. I love the way the bat bonks things.
I honestly was debating quitting on the final jumping puzzle as I accidentally flew out of the pool over the wall and into a previous pool. But I'm glad I got through it, the final boss was a nice end.

I really like the Graphics in this game. What did you use to make the Voxel objects?

@devparty We used [MagicaVoxel](https://ephtracy.github.io/) for the 3D models!

The most fun I've ever had beating up mice. Very cool voxel aesthetic. The boss at the end reminds me of Crocodile Dentist.

Nice atmosphere. The voxel look is super cool, I'll have to try it someday.

Lol, that's a huge rats. xD But anyway they are quite cute.. Nice graphics and game overall! Really like that, sad that game is so short.

Nice game, the rats remind me of monsters from old-school shooters, such as Duke3D. Bashing the rats with the bat is pretty fun, and the sounds used make this even more fun. I flew off the map once, when dragging the cube in the first puzzle - I went into the corner with the cube attached.

Really impressive for a game jam game. The first time I hit a rat I had to start laughing. The graphic look beautiful. Super fun to run around and a great mix between hitting enemies, puzzles and jump n' run!

Wow, the voxel aesthetic is really nice. I did have to squint my eyes a bit while going through the tunnels, but that said, how did you do the water? It looks so good!

@congusbongus Thanks for letting me know about the Mac build, I removed it for now until I can figure out why that's happening. :slight_frown:

I'm definitely a sucker for voxel art, really the only thing that's disappointing about it is that it doesn't look like you used it everywhere. I don't know how in the cards that would be, since i don't know Unreal's limitations

I see you went with the flashlight that sucks, there's so little light though that is a help unlike most finished games with a flashlight. If I sound more annoyed then i should about this its because bad flashlights are a pet peeve of mine.

Gameplay wise it was really short and easy. If you were to continue this I would start by making some variations in the enemies.

I initially assumed that the green water would hurt me for landing in it, I'm not sure if its a good thing or a bad things that it doesn't since the turtle platforming was a bit more difficult then the enemies were.

The game was very atmospheric when you went into the sewers, I almost felt like I was going to be jumpscared. The voxel models were very interesting to look at in contrast with the smooth terrain of the game. Overall, the game ran smoothly for me and the turtle based platforming was satisfying to complete. Good job!

It was fun! For some reason, it reminded me of old 2d games that wanted to look 3d)) I especially liked jumping on turtles! = ) Maybe you should add music? Without it, it was boring to move around a long location when there was no activity and no enemies. Thank you for the fun

Really fun game, i loved the sound fx and the graphics, the jumping bit with the turtles was a bit iffy as you could call off them really easy, kudos for the little arena and the boss fight.

I overall had fun playing the game. I would have preferred the game was a bit short, and instead had some music, more sound effects, and perhaps a more developed fighting mechanic. But okay for a jam game it's good. Well done.

Great game!
The mood is pretty cool, but some background sounds would make it better I guess.

Also, the jump feels so weird, it's hard to calculate the distance and it doesn't seem that you can jump that much, maybe making jumps shorter or make the camera higher would feel more accurate of what player expects.

Beside that, other things are so good, i liked playing it!

Really good job!
