Peace & Libery

by Paolo Mazzon for Ludum Dare #48

Travel across space spreading peace and democracy wherever you roam. Purchase quality weapons from Rinky's store front, trade stocks in the galaxy's most complex market, and most importantly travel to different planets and meet the locals while collecting various goods!

Please check the help board in game, there are a fair few mechanics for a game this small.

Requirements

Any PC from the last 5 years should be good but more specifically

  • Windows 10
  • 2gb ram
  • Decent CPU
  • Vulkan supported GPU

Special thanks to

  • Andrew McBride for his "out of this world" (lmao) role as Rinky
  • Dan & Esteban for a great game idea
  • https://www.fesliyanstudios.com/ for some great gun sounds
  • Kyle Flemming for some Grade-A playtesting

Very satisfying gameplay, I loved the recoil mechanic with the starting gun and the shooting sounds. Also, the amount of content you managed to include in such little time is amazing. I have a few suggestions:
- I think the camera should move a little bit towards your aim
- Some visual feedback whenever you hit an enemy
- The spaceship in the middle of the level that takes you back to the hub should not be clickable (I clicked it on accident more times than I would like to admit)

Anyway, very fun game, congratulations!

Another MinGW & CMake hero! This is quite well executed, especially with all this lovely Vulkan undergrowth I'm seeing on your GitHub. I'd love to chat sometime. The game just pumps adrenaline while you are looking for minerals. For some reason, I was reading the vibes of SpacewardHo at first glance. Have you had much experience in the realm of procedural generation?

@pierce-brooks I would have loved to do some procedural generation for the levels instead of a barren expanse (as well as some lighting), but having walls there at all would mean I would require pathfinding and I was already kinda risking it with the really shoddy "optimization." If I ever revisit this that would be at the top of my to-do list.

fun idea, liked the game. I burned a lot of money in the beginning because I accidentily traveled back because I didn't know what to do and clicked the spaceship
