The Drill-Train by Tryus30

[raw]
made by Tryus30 for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

This is the first time I'm doing a Jam alone. I'm a programmer, so don't judge me on my art, except for the UI, I liked the UI.

As per usual, I started almost a day late, and to make matters worse I didn't had much time to work on monday. On total I made this game in 19h 34m 33s. I wish I had more time to work on it. I really liked the idea of the game, and I think I might try to turn it into a real game someday. Feel free to bash the game on the comments.

---[DESCRIPTION]---

You controll the Train-Drill

Choose the direction you want to drill with the arrows on the left.

Upgrade your carts with the buttons on the bottom.

The deeper you go, the more resources you will find.

Don't forget to upgrade your defences!

Very fun game. it's balancing is very good and its very fun. i do think that maybe when you are up, there would be a random chance for you to find iron, because if youre up and you're in a late wave, you're doomed.
overall, this is very fun.
maybe if you have the time check out my game?(https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/into-the-depth)

Great game! I might be uneducated but I have never seen a tower defense style game where the towers are mobile in this fashion and you are are free to move your "base", really innovative!

I had a "best" score of 9 but an even better score of -48, I think the score calculator has a little bug :P Aren't you supposed to get more score the further down you drill? And it was not clear why I didn't get any resources when drilling upwards.

I think som basic sounds would have made a big difference for the mood. Maybe add some resource nodes you can aim for while drilling? And maybe a radar and some sort of fog of war? I wish the drilling would have been a little quicker so you have the time to move around a bit more before you die.

Otherwise nice work!

I enjoyed the game quite a bit! Love the concept but I felt that the game had a lot of down-time. In comparison to tower defense games, most of the down-time is spent planning tower placements and figuring out the bottlenecks and pain points. Maybe if there was more strategy in moving straight, up, or down or adding different train cars could help spice things up.
