This seems like a really cool proof of concept for a game I'd be nostalgic for. I love that you used Pico-8 to the fullest.

YOU CAN PET THE DOG! Game is nice, but very short.

You hooked me with the exploration. I had a great time wandering around and interacting with the characters. The writing was really good as well.

A minor critique is that the art was a little noisy. I had a hard time seeing my character and the shifting background patterns was kind of jarring. I wonder if it would be easier to look at with flat colors for the grass and other backgrounds?

Regardless, really nicely done! I had a great time playing.

Nice old school game, I accidentally entered to the boss fight 10 seconds into the gameplay because of Pokemon trauma with hidden objects. I really liked the boss fight music, the boss dialog music on the other side would have given me a headache if i had to hear it for a bit longer. No bugs found so it's better than Cyberpunk 2077.

I enjoyed the graphical style you used. Well done, but it would have been nice to see the theme come into play a bit more. The most important feature was there though: petting the cat!

I accidentally entered the boss fight before I got the message from the old man (learned about him from second playthrough) and was slightly confused why the end was so early. But I loved the fighting style for the game and enjoyed the music throughout. I could tell a lot of thought was put into this!

Really liked the art style, but the backgrounds were a bit noisy. I think if you made the attack counter go from 100 to 0 rather than bouncing back it would make going for 100 points more risky. I loved the dialog!

Where do I begin with this one? Really felt like this entry had some real soul, I loved all the small interactions I had with the NPCs, especially the wi... *cough* wise old man with the infor.. *ahem* information XD the fight mechanics with the rising and falling values put a nice spin on a turn based battle system. Loved the oldschool audio as well. Fantastic entry <3

This game looks really good, but somehow the first time I tried this, I stumbled to the boss while interacting with the colorful things on the wall in the first room. And "won the game."

EqualEnergy and I are very grateful to all of you that have played the game and for all of your wonderful comments.

Spoiler alert: As a few have already noted, it can be very easy to stumble onto the ending very quickly in this game. That is partly by design, as there's nothing preventing it from happening, although the intended route was to receive a clue from the old man first and I underestimated the ease with which the secret room could be found by accident even without the clue. If you have talked to all the characters in town (5 characters, one in each house) and have found the secret room and defeated SUBCON, you have experienced everything that was part of the game. Again, thank you so much to everyone who played!

Your game has infinite possibilities for development. Especially in history. Maybe some things to do before going to the final fight. I found the mechanism of the fight interesting.

Congratulations for the game. I love pico8 games.

I was looking forward to more and thought the boss battle win was a fake end game message. Your game has some nice charm, I think you should continue, the writing was nice and so was the art, just needed more of it. Good job
