Explanation Department by meownsk

[raw]
made by meownsk for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

I'd be honest. This game wasn't made in 3 days. It actually was made in 3 weeks on another jam that ended up 22 of April. So we spend additional ludum days to polishing and the game become more playable. So we decided to show our game to LD community, maybe someone just will be interested.

Citizen, prepare yourself for an explanation!

Another dark night in the city. Another strange business. More explanations for which there is no time... of course, you can contact the Department for explanations. But will you stay who you were? And who are you really?..

The essence of the game:

This is a small noir VR stealth game for the Oculus Rift. You have to almost literally get into the shoes of a private detective - as literally as the format of a VR game allows. You need to investigate a strange case, avoiding the Department staff and security cameras. The investigation consists of conversations with key characters in different locations, which is a task in itself to overcome.

A little about development:

As is usual with jams, a lot did not reach the release due to lack of time and free hands. We were aiming for much more - cooler stealth mechanics using VR, a dialogue system and non-linearity of the passage, during which you would have to travel through a much larger sandbox city and independently build a big picture... In a word, everything is the same as always for everyone:)... But, in any case, it was quite an interesting experience for us as developers, and we hope it will be interesting for you as a player.

We understand that not so many people have VR these days, so there is video walkthrough. In video there is russian voices, but actual build contains english translation. Maybe later we'll record actual build with english voices. https://youtu.be/9qQg9Ecf9eA

Hey ! I got an occulus quest 2 recently and this actually was so cool to play. Well done ! :D I wouldn't play it after dark though, I think I'd just completely destroy my room being all panicky, because the mood is perfectly set up for that !

@javasaurus man thank you so much. We didn't even hope that anyone will play VR game, not just watch a video. I'm very glad that you enjoyed it!

Interesting one never seen a previously made jam game being submitted, I watched the whole walktrough deep n' dark atmosphere successfully reflects noir style,I would definitely try if I had a VR set.
