To The Core by Paulsams

[raw]
made by Paulsams for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

A puzzle platformer with a portal gun and shooter elements that tells the story of a failed journey to the center of the earth.

Embark on a journey to the center of the earth and don't forget the portal gun. Watch out for huge jellyfish and remember: "Corporate ethics prohibits wearing the Black Mesa insignia".

Walhthrough: The last room with arrows: TIP: Look at the arrow at the back of the room and at the arrow at the bottom. They are very closely related. And the third arrow from the top indicates the drop height. FULL Walhthrough: after the checkpoint, we jump down and put the portal on the back on a large surface, then we fly to the mushroom, where it is already on the ice and two more mushrooms, and we get back on the ice and from this ice we fall down to the portal where the arrow is, and turning back we put the second portal under the second arrow and at high speed we fly over the whole room.

This game was awesome. The graphics were really good. I liked the "being launched and quickly try to save yourself" aspect. It is reminiscent of portals but you are constantly moving so you have to act quickly. though it was sometimes a bit hard to see where to go and where to place the next portals. But overall, a really cool game.

Haven't given you a rating yet since I downloaded it and it didn't seem to work with my mouse input? The mouse was registering since the view through portals was moving but the character viewpoint was stuck?

I really liked it, like the graphics are really good, mood and ambience also, but the constant dying was kinda annoying since i wanted to experience the game some more. Overall really good, probably the best by now

Hands down the most interesting game I've played so far. I can't believe you have made something like this in only 72 hours. The graphics are just unbelievable and you even managed to make The Portal game??? How??? That's just incredible.

PS: Extra points for that first slide in the beginning, that was such fun :)

There's a lot done here for 72hrs! Really fun but crazy hard! Wish I could've gotten to the end but I kept being killed whilst entering the portals in a long section between checkpoints and couldn't make it to the next part of the level. Both the mood and the graphics for the gun where also great.

@felixmreeve It happens. Try restarting the game and wait for the initial animation to complete before pressing T.

The graphics of the game were really great. The dim environments gave the game a good underground ambience. The slowdowns felt odd at the beginning but they were a good choice for making it easier to land those tricky portal shots.

@felixmreeve We understood the cause of the bug and fixed it. Although it was difficult, because he appears very randomly. You can try to play again.

Loved the jellyfish! Other than that I died a lot but I believe that's not the game's fault ;)

there were spots where i kept falling through the world, and also you should put in a game exit for instances like that.

@jcmonkey I will check the collision so that you cannot fall out of the world. But why close the game for a restart? You may not have seen, but at the beginning of the game there was a tutorial, where it was written that there is an "R" button, which returns to the last checkpoint.

when you fall out of the world, your stuck alt tabbing to kill the process

@jcmonkey You can reload last checkpoint by R button.

The game is good, looks great and is perfectly played. The only thing that spoils the impression a little is the difficulty at the last stage. With a competent difficulty curve and a slightly steeper level design, the game would be top.

Игра хорошая, прекрасно выглядит и прекрасно играется. Единственное что немного портит впечатление - сложность на последнем этапе. С грамотной кривой сложности и чуть более крутым левел дизайном игра была бы топ.

It's very addictive, but there are nuances with orientation in space. Nice visual & gameplay!

It seemed very cool. Sadly, I could not figure out how to beat the first level. I liked the flying jellyfish a lot though.

Really fun game! The gameplay reminded me a lot of the Surf maps from back in counter-strike: source. But, like, if you also had a portal gun.

Nice work! But I often fall past the gutter. The game seems too difficult due to level design errors.

I have an idea what you were trying to do here. I was able to figure out what to do, but took a bit of trial and error. The graphics are pleasing and I thought the pacing is nice and steady.

Looks supercool
But it is very hard to understand what you should do
There is a reason why Portal levels are compact and static - all puzzle related places are near by and you have plenty of time to think
