[raw]
made by TheseusInABottle for Ludum Dare 49 (COMPO)

Nurse Nikki has fallen asleep in the broom closet of the Asylum for the criminally insane she works at. Somehow the inmates have taken over and now she must slink through the hallways collecting keycards to make it back outside.

Controls are standard WASD/Arrow Keys

Notes: SOMEBODY SEDATE ME. This is not my best work please after you play this play something like Down the Dwarven Hole so you know I can actually make good things. Also this game has no audio so don't worry about not hearing anything.

The game is quite hard, but after a couple of tries I managed to get to the end 😁. Some sounds would have been cool to have.

I agree with @munkkeli m it's a pretty hard game. It's actually a pretty decent stealth game given the 48h limit.

That was very challenging to avoid the sight on all the inmates. If I could give any feedback it would be to not draw the sight polygons through walls since there is an LOS check there but that wasn't obvious but I also understand there are some technical challenges with clipping the polygon to the correct shape

I love stealth games, but this felt more like "avoid the rectangles" than sneak past guards.
I think the problem was just the level design. Each area felt like it had one path to exploit, so I found myself just waiting for the opening and running to the cards.

To make it feel more like a stealth game, I think you could have opened up the level more and maybe added vents you could enter to bypass some areas. Basically design the level so the player has more options to get to the cards beyond just waiting for the guards to turn around. Also, the view volumes of the guards were deceptive since they made it seem like guards could see you through walls.

Also gadgets, items, and skills and stuff would be cool but 48 hours is no joke. Great job putting this all together in a short amount of time. I do wish you could have squeezed in some of that high quality voice acting from Down the Dwarven hole though

Very hard game, I gave up after the second room, sorry  Good work on enemy patrols!

It was ok. The graphics weren't great and I wish there was some audio. I also wish the game moved a bit faster because it got really boring going through the same path over and over again after dying near the end. It was still pretty fun tho.

I like how they move a little before they start chasing you, which gives you a chance to escape. That adds depth to the game. Also, interesting that the field of view was a rectangle instead of a cone.

It's hard 😓. Did not manage to reach the end.
I have been wondering if there is a way to escape from a guard once he sees us as we can see him move towards us. Maybe there could be something to do regarding this in a future version?
Good job anyway!

This game is REALLY difficult. Some fine-tuning to the character's movement speed and enemy's patrol patterns would make a huge difference.

Some audio and visual feedback for the player would be nice. For instance, when you get spotted, the screen shakes a little bit, and maybe there is a red vignette.

Also, to add to the "unstable" theme, perhaps some environmental sound effects, like the prisoners talking, or screeching, to themselves, would add to the unstableness of the environment.

Aside from that, the enemy AI is really impressive.

Hey, not *that* bad! Got to the end after four or five attempts. I pretty much agree with everything Skleembof said above, so I'll not repeat here
