Unstable Fury by Wizard

[raw]
made by Wizard for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Your life at the Applestow Bio-research lab has been a long and painful ordeal. Years of genetic experimentation inflicted upon you by twisted and sadistic scientists have left you in a state of perpetual Bio-molecular instability, to the point of being outside of a Gamma-zone for more than a fraction of a minute will cause you to melt into a pile of goo.

Knowing that you are not long for this world you might as well bring some righteous retribution to the cretins that caused your suffering, before you are released from this torment.

Disclaimer: this was originally planned for the compo but needed more time to complete. Everything was made by me during the jam weekend.

Managed to get a high score of 18. Found myself dying a lot because I was trying to explore the map. I think it would be better to move the gamma zones around so that you can't just stay in the same place.

Pretty fun and simple game. The stability mechanic makes it interesting and encourages memorization of the map in order to get back to areas where stability can be increased. I was worried about the game being a bit to simplistic when I was first playing, but the unexpected inclusion of guards that will get in your way helps add an extra layer in the later sections of the game.

Good audio. Simple enough to play right away. Those guards are mean! Liked the whole stronger=unstable thing.

Great job! Sound effects when attacking the scientists were nice, made me feel a bit bad when squishing them lol.
It was a bit difficult to navigate around cuz the sanity was dropping so fast but it was fun navigating around.

This is a super simple and funny little game. The games visuals and the music is pretty good. I like the gameplay idea, and it's overall fun to play. I got a bit stuck when walking around corners, but it was not a big issue. Overall a good jam game. Well done.

Simple and fun, I like the music because it enhances the mood of the gameplay and it kinda reminds of John Carpenter's "The Thing" vibe

Whenever a game starts with a screen full of written instructions, I'm a bit worried. :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm not sure about the application of the theme. Having to return to those zones to charge back up and then go back venturing to find a new one to get further didn't feel like unstable. It felt more like being leashed and kept under control.

The game had a pretty good vibe though and I appreciated the audio. The music loop could have been a bit longer or made to loop in a bit smoother fashion. Still, it's a nice entry!

It was ok. The audio was not that great and the music was really annoying cause it was a 4 second loop. The graphics had a cool style but a lot of the walls seemed to be misaligned which was odd. The gameplay got a bit repetitive but was still pretty fun. Overall it was pretty good.

Was reminded of that one TNG-episode with the super soldiers, which doesn't mean a lot, but there you go :D

Simple and very efficient at what the game wants to achieve! Great work!

sometimes the player gets stuck in place. The music isn't bad. It's not very interesting to play, the goal is not clear. The topic is poorly disclosed.

Nice work, would love to have some sort of progression through the level design making me go further with the gamma zone.
