Under the Bridge by knomez

This is Under the Bridge, a simple game about a simple troll.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Your goal is to grab the carts trying you use your bridge, while fending off the kings archers who are trying to kill you.
The carts are easy to grab, but you need to throw stones to defeat the archers. Fortunately for you there are plenty of suitable stones in the river, just step into it (get off the bridge first) and press "E" to grab up to 10 stones at a time. Dont stand still very long or the archers will start peppering you with arrows. Watch your stomachs they serve as your health.

ABOUT THE GAME:
I was wholly uninspired by the theme I am sorry to say. Still there is plenty to learn in doing a game jam so I went ahead with it anyway. I am glad that I did. There is much that I learned. Still more to write and more to come. But for now on to the submit button!

MORE TO COME:
I have a few ideas that I wasn't able to include in time. I have a completed web version bundled with the source code and I will be hosting that in the near future for your playing pleasure. I will have the original version up as well as a version with any changes I end up making. They will be clearly labeled as I want this entry to be on the up and up.

Not directly obvious how to get this running. Had to go to your source folder, in the LudumDare33Submission folder, download all the files therein, run them locally. So I see that you finished the web version, but it would be nice of you to actually host it somewhere (so it is truly a web version, runnable in the browser)…

Anyway, the game, simple, but obviously can be improved a lot. It can be very punishing if you miss even a single archer in a wave, because immediately another wave comes. It's easy to get overwhelmed, the difficulty curve is a bit too steep. There isn't much incentive to ever step out of the river, so you can always replenish your stones. The carts could possibly be a solution to that, but they are too rare, in my opinion. Naturally, you could improve the graphics, add audio, have additional enemy types, power-ups, polish, …

But, we all have to start somewhere :) Keep on LD-ing!
