Bad Buckets by PurpledArtFrog
Did a PostJam version with some minor fixes and a new enemy type

Unstable... one of the two themes I marked with red in my Milanote... of course  Well had fun nonetheless.
You're working in a store where the paint buckets have become unstable. They cracking after falling to the floor - so now they are walking around the store leaking paint.
If you get too close to spills your uniform become dirty and you're no longer allowed to carry the paint buckets to the recycler.... at least not until you fetch a new uniform.
Really look forward to seeing your entries

I think the mechanics were fairly good too. Movement felt a little floaty, but it wasn't too bad.
Because the buckets spawned pretty fast for me, I lost focus on protecting the customers and went into survival mode, just trying to catch any bucket that ran by. I would probably have benefited from a slower spawn rate, but I suspect that varies widely based on player skill (my skill is very low in this case).
I enjoyed the way you integrated the theme into this game and I found the story of the game to be fun. The music helped establish a good mood and the frantic paint wrangling kept me engaged. Thanks for sharing!
Couple of things...
I didn't really get to test that much and hence the balancing is likely very poor as you mention.
There a no animations.
The theme could have benefitted really well from a couple of hours extra work.
Thank you again very much for playing .. I will test yours as well.

Thank you very for playing
In terms of improvements, I noticed there were system messages popping up but they were way smaller than the other UI text. It looked like they they were referring to paint buckets breaking into the customer area? A scoring system would also have been nice. I noticed there was a timer at the end of the game but it seemed to be a placeholder.
The gameplay was fun for a while but I feel like it was missing something. I know you said that you didnt have time to test the balancing but I didn't feel like the balancing was an issue. It just felt like I needed some other objective to supplement the gameplay.
For example, you could have added some sort of counter like total sales, or management's attitude which is affected by your performance. If you play well and clean up the store by removing buckets and running over paint, management is happy and sales increase. When customers are painted, or if the store is too dirty, you lose sales and can get fired.
Something like that would have added a lot more depth to the gameplay, but obviously time was very limited. You did a lot in just 48 hours so great job
AND - thank you very much all of you for giving it your time
Have a brilliant morning, evening and/or daying according to your timezone

So might have to do a quick bug fix ... that and the timer.
@c64cosmin Thank you very much for the positive words  Actually did not consider the PacMan twist.. you do really have a point on that one.... Could be interesting to introduce these guys in a post-jam version (just need to shoehorn them into the theme)

@maggardjosh Thank you very much and yes... balancing is likely one of the most difficult issues with the whole jam... because you can only really do it when the entire game has been created.
@kumber Yeah.... might have made sense to do a BIG pop-up with the while "dirty-thing"
@flying-dog-fish .... actually could have been the other way around if anything... you were maybe not allowed to fetch buckets when in uniform... but I would maybe need a mechanic where you had to switch between handling customers (in uniform) and then changing to janitor outfit and hunting buckets....
feels hard to win. if there are some upgrade for player like catch range up or speed up would be helpful
@lovor Yea not the most obvious one
@nyxkn Getting dirty is from the paint splashes on the floor - and yes it's a bit backwards.. you need clean uniform to pick up dirty things... I know I know... :face_palm_tone1:
@nekowei Absolutely agree - I was considering it... but simply ran out of time
@patrickrmc Aisles empty should actually trigger a game won.... if less than 10 paint cans escaped.
