@dob I was too focused on balancing the game. Adding plate feed back was on the top of my TODO list.
I can add so many mechanics to make this game better, here are a few of them:
- Doves that flies around knocking plates off
- Black cats that randomly paws a stick to make it wobble
- Different levels with sticks and plates on different level platform. Implies a jump feature.
The one obvious thing to add would be spinning animations for better feedback, but overall a really solid entry!
I liked the game, but maybe you would have liked to make it a bit more hectic? Maybe less plates, but more speed to switch from one plate to another like crazy. Maybe make the plates more threatening. Something like that. Also, in a game like that, it's more satisfying to have points just when being alive than getting points by doing an action I think.
I know it's a lot of points I raised here, but I liked the game though x) The art is simple but works well, the music is great too (if you follow my tips from above, maybe you would like to make it a bit more hectic too) and the controls responsive.
Great game overall!
I agree with @mathiouza in that I believe it would be more enjoyable to have just points for being alive, because I feel like it creates this strong incentive to always be spinning, even when it's not useful, and that feels a bit weird. Fewer plates, but faster action, and maybe something to give a bit more texture to the gameplay (another way to interact with the plates that creates interesting decisions points? Already kinda present with the fact that you can choose to let a plate fall and catch it after though, but that's mitigated by the fact that it gives you no point simply surviving, so maybe that change would be enough.)
Great job, keep it up!
