Edit - That was fun. Best game I've played so far. Thanks!
There's nothing much else to say other than great job! I had a lot of fun playing this!
maybe do screen a little wider its hard to see whats going on sometimes.
Also maybe make death animation for enemies faster.
@westmave I tried to design the levels to force shooting sometimes but yeah you can get past the dudes. With more time I would add an incentive to shoot the guys but you live and learn!
Thanks everyone!
I had a slight problem when running the game Fullscreen. When in Fullscreen and I hit about halfway through the game it started lagging a ton. Playing through in windowed worked perfectly though. A solid entry overall.
@player-2 This is not something I've noticed but I will investigate! Thanks a lot for the helpful info!
@leandro4002 it is not on github currently, I'm proud of it but also embarressed at the same time haha. I've written it kinda in a void so it works for me but not sure how anyone else would get one with it. It would need some serious tidying up if I was to release it to the public and I would rather just keep plowing ahead making some games! Thanks for your comment.
graphic and colour choice was on point! hope you can make your name for yourself. well played!
On reflection, the gun should do less damage to the player and the enemies should do more damage I think. I might put out a Post Jam "Rebalance" version at some point in the next few weeks so thanks for all the feedback!
@leuthil I'm sorry to hear that! Thanks for the info, I will look into it. And you are correct I think it would have benefited alot from some environmental obstacles. We'd made some sprites for a mine and some barbed wire but I was running out time 😢 The pressure rate idea is a great suggestion, I might put that in the post-jam version too 😁 thanks!
It is simply wonderful!
A pure masterpiece!
(a little downside however to the music that could be improved)
And you threw in a boss at the end?! You're getting really high marks from me. Well done, I'll keep my eye out for games from this team in the future.
Pretty nice game with a good, clean art style. The lighting was a little TOO dark for my personal taste, I think I like the mood of the darkness, but I wish that the bright areas were a little more visible, simply because it felt like the good clean art was mostly being obscured instead of appreciated properly.
I do think that the two different enemy types would have benefited from being different colors rather than distinguished solely through their faces/heads, I think that would make them easier to read. Right now their silhouette is almost exactly the same, so they read very similarly to each other visually and I don't think the added concentration needed to distinguish them really adds to the gameplay. But that's more of a quality-of-life improvement than anything. I think the boss attack could probably also have used some better visuals, but honestly it's more impressive that you even had a functioning boss fight to begin with, so good job!
The level design maybe isn't perfect with regards to creating a ton of exciting moments (it's good enough) but I really appreciated the approach to splitting up the main path into two branches with differing obstacles to give the layout some basic nonlinearity and allow for player agency.
The visual aesthetic is great and I love the backing track, it all comes together in a really nice moody action title!
I feel like I'm playing foxhole again.
Nice job!
I tried a full pacifist when I understood you can skip minions but not possible on the boss, I was so sad at the end ;p
