Unstable Patrol by Jin9310
Unstable Patrol is a game about a lone bomb hunter. He needs to find any reported bomb before it explodes. The game should be quite self explanatory, but it is far from perfect, so I tried to focus on some nice pixels and pleasing sounds. I enjoyed the process but over-scoped a little. Any form of feedback is appreciated and most welcome. Enjoy the rating phase and till next time.
There are few nice/nasty bugs which makes the game pretty UNSTABLE, those are there only because I wanted to follow the theme of the jam!
I have used the following tools and everything has been created during the jam.

Maybe the movement speed could have been faster, but that's really my only "problem".
Also I think I experienced a bug. One time I got the bomb in the house No. 0, which I assume doesn't exist because I couldn't find it :D
The issue with "0" is strange, yet I know about it, but wasn' t able to debug it properly before the release and as it happens only sometimes I will hope not many people will run into it :)
Overall the game is missing loads of stuff, but I am glad that at least pixelart and music is decent. Thank you for playing!
You achieved a lot in the limited time you had.
Top Compo entry Jin :raised_hands:
i would have been interested to explore more of the world that you built, but the slow movement speed and short timer to find bombs made it too difficult. also, as far as "fun-ness" goes, i don't think it's that fun looking for the right house, it feels really arbitrary to match the house to the number at the top of the screen. i think it would have been more engaging if the house actually had a visual indication that it got bombed.
@victoriaogino @nahuelito @bauke-regnerus Thank you for playing the game!
@greenradiation I know right? :D I like to do such things actually. Thank you for playing.
@oddsocks Hey mate! Thanks a lot for your time and such a kind words!
@lesinvisible thank you for playing and kind words
Funny that the music contrasts a lot with the game objective, as I could not really feel the tension of the bombs on the verge of exploding. I also had an experience similar to @sakura-magika, did you want to add something on the right of the starting point?
With that said, I think it has potential to be a great game though, good job :)
Maybe I should have been throwing it off the edge of the map?
As others have said, the artwork was top notch. All the details were amazing, down to the man's bouncing eyebrows. The music fit right with it, too.
I know as well that focus in one area detracts from others. In this case, the RNG was pretty harsh! You've already mentioned other known issues, so I won't repeat. Maybe you could always make the first bomb at the first house, as an easy tutorial? Obviously, a 10 second timer to get from any house back to the stationary drop zone is quite impossible. What if he had a little bomb disposal bot that followed him?
Again, beautiful game. I'm going to follow you to see what you come up with next!
@antbrl The contrast is really on puprose, but you are right that some "stress" factor would be nice, at least once you pick-up the bomb. I will try to keep that in mind for future refference and for the post jam version. And the idea was to have bigger village, with perhaps some random spawning of the buildings, but the scope would be already way to huge, so I kept the area open. Thanks a lot!
@barrier At this point you can literally drop the bomb anywhere and you are ok, there is a drop zone which gives you some points (that I am not showing anywhere :D). The idea was to get the bomb away from any building to prevent the explosion and collapse of the building, but again, no time for that. On my itch page there is a note that you need to hold shift for running ;) THanks for playing!
@hawkin THanks for kind words and it is really great to hear that someone noticed the little details ;) With that timer, it is not always 10 secs, your RNG was indeed just way too harsh. The problem is (as mentioned earlier) that if you would have made it, lets say 3 secs before the timer ends, the next bomb will start at 3 secs timer. I forgot to reset the timers. So yeah :D Anyway there will be a patch comming up, if you'd like to see it more complete. And I will be for sure making more games in foreseeable future so I will be more than glad to hear feedback from you again! Thanks a lot again, really appreciate the feedback.
Great job 10/10 would play again!
