Try disabling compression - this broke a couple of my webgl builds for another jam.

I got a positive impression despite some technical implementation issues. Good job.

There's an impressive amount of game here already in terms of level design and content. I love the art, sound, and the overall mood of the game, and the platforming felt pretty good (especially the basic jumping and running). The shooting felt underbaked to me--I really found myself wishing that I could shoot while jumping or falling, and that the attack direction would default to go forward instead of up. I think this is a great starting point for a fun Metroidvania and it's really cool how much you guys already have in place. Good stuff!

Nice little game, really loved the floor breaking animation.
Nice vibe, castlevania like with scifi twist =)

Could have done some touchups on the menu boxes and buttons, and i did hit a couple of falling through the world pixels.

Liked the checkpoints and powerups.

I'm impressed with how fleshed out this is, and I'm a fan of the art. The gameplay was nice as well, but I agree with polymathLD about the jumping, it would have been nice to be able to fire while falling/jumping. A great metroidvania game overall!

@xsangyhix @fre Thanks for the advice. The WebGL version now loads.

Good music and graphics and (from how far I got) decent amount of content. Thanks for fixing the web version - it makes it more approachable to test. Unfortunately I did not finish the game because I softlocked. Turns out that pressing ESC during the game locks the controlls and does not release it even after reenabling the game. Besides that I found the jump to be unresponsive at times. Maybe add coyote time. I have also sometimes fallen on spikes and could not jump off, just walk from side to side and die. Lastly, there are some glass walls and it hurts the overall feeling. Edit: I also think that shooting up by default is not the best way to go, I would expect the character to shoot in the direction that he is facing when stating still.

Nice graphics, sounds, music, but the controls were disappointing, I tried both from the keyboard and from the gamepad, and it was not convenient and technical roughness.

Great art and audio. Got stuck on wall after jumping a lots of time but still enjoyed what I played.

@pvp yeaaah, that's why we kept the F1 reset button. Lots of platforming elements that took more time to hammer out than we had. Thank you for playing!

Wow, this game is awesome! I really like the graphics and the sound... it's funny when you first reach to rocket and then fall down to the real beginning of it all. Just great. But the (shooting) controls are a little bit strange.

The graphics and the sound is great! It's really hard work for finishing a metroid vania game in this event. The control is a bit hard for me. It becomes better when I got the wall jump and double jump abilities. Keep up with good work!

I'm really amazed by the variety of the environments and by the amount of content you've managed to put in there.

Great job! :)

I really liked art and sound too! I think there are some points to improve and polish, but incredible entry! They have an excellent base for a great metroidvania, good job! xD

i like the graphics, the sounds also were great but the music is kinda annoying sometimes, there's some technical issues like when i step on a closed place with spikes, the only choice i have is to move until i die, the level design is quite solid, for me you have an unpolished jam in your hands, is up to you what to do next

i thought the floor crumbling right when you get to the cool thingy on the roof was a great moment!

i think the floors crumbling into physics-enabled rocks is the most unique thing about your game, would have liked to see more of that to make it stand out. make it feel more Unstable.

the jump was a bit finicky, doesn't always trigger when i'm up against the wall.

falling onto spikes was very annoying, can't jump out, but doesnt instant kill either, just need to walk back and forth until i die. please make it insta kill!

i'm not quite sure what the theme tie in is.

Whoa, a full-blown metroidvania for a game jam? No small feat!

Great "storytelling" by making the floor crumble just before getting to my ship. The music was very athmospheric and really gave me a sense of being trapped in an unknown planet fighting for my life to escape.

The scale of the game is really impressive!

Also, the pixel-art especially of the protagonist is the best I have seen so far on the jam. Congratulations.

To improve:
- I didn't feel very informed what's the general setting of the game and what my objectives are
- The levels felt a bit empty and clean
- The controls were sometimes a bit wonky. Jumping in general didn't respond as I would have liked. Aiming was alos though and did often not what I wanted.
- I frequently jumped into walls. And sometimes I could not free myself without hitting F1. Especially this part of the level was notorious for that. Almost every jump can lead to being stuck here. ![scrot_2021-10-10_18-40-14_screenshot.png](///raw/8ad/32/z/48000.png)

I'm a bit torn. Art, music, scope and atmosphere are superb. But the core mechanics need some polishing as they do not work as smooth as they should.

Nice job! Found a few bugs while playing like falling through the floor and no way to restart. Think with some extra polish and more time you'd have a fun game here.

I definitly had some trouble around the walls, and just general collision, as well as the one-tone background music, even though it added some nice ambience, it also started to get a little irritating after 30 seconds or so. I love the art and the mood though! Well Done!

Very impressive for the time available. A bit sparse, given the amount of space that is in the game, and a few glitches (falling through floor and walls etc.)

I would definitely like to play more of this game when it is further along in development.

I got stuck and couldn't progress any further and I wasn't sure whether that was just how far you'd got to during the jam or whether I was missing something. I wasn't able to wall grab so, perhaps, that was my issue?

@malcolm Wall Jump is the first upgrade, the first accessible area was to the left of the hub and you could find it there. The hub was admittedly a tad bit large and I can definitely see you getting lost before finding it-- especially since it was higher up so apologies for that. Thank you for playing! Not entirely clear on whether we plan on continuing this, but it's definitely been one of my favorite LD projects thus far.

I really like the atmosphere in this game. Very unsettling. The graphics are stunning and really well done. I did run into some collision bugs. The first time I ran the game I fell right through a corner and had to restart the game. I was also able to stick to walls in certain areas. Overall though, great entry. Nice work!
