Rocky Reactor

An unstable reactor has been found in a nearby basement. It will be your task to capture it. It will be a bit risky since the reactor releases toxic fumes every so often. Be aware that our enemy is planning to do the exact same thing as us, so take them out when you see them!

Features

  • Stylish pixel art
  • Sweet voice lines
  • A pesky AI to play against
  • Local multiplayer

Units

Soldier - Does the most damage, not useful for much else.
Scientist - Has the ability to stabilize the reactor for a few more turns.
Saboteur - Has the ability to destabilize the reactor right away.
Snatcher - Has the ability to take over an enemy unit.
Smoker - Does not take damage when near the unstable reactor.

How to play

Placing card

In order to place a card on the board, you have to drag the card from the side of the screen to an available tile in the spawn area. Available tiles will be marked with a dark round marker.

Movement

You can move a card on the board by dragging it from the current tile to an available tile. Available tiles will be marked with a dark round marker.

Abilities and Attacking

You can use your abilities and attack the same way as you would move your card. Scientist and saboteurs can only use their ability while next to the reactor. Snatchers can only use their ability while next to an available enemy.

Winning

You win the game by having more of your cards in the reactor's danger zone than the enemy for three turns in a row.

Best of luck and I hope you have fun!

Incredibly fun submission with cool sound effects and I totally digged the graphics. One minor feedback I would give, is being able to right click the units for example to check again what the units actually do. It's really hard to memorize all that information given at the start.

Pretty fun game! I love the audio clips but they get a little old (but it guess thats how it is for every strategy game). The ai is also pretty good and i was actually having a good time playing against it.

I like the simple controls. I would probably keep radio static to the end of the audio clip, instead of before and after each clip. The voice acting gives a lot of character! Having AI opponent is great achievement for a jam as well. Nicely done

A solid turn-based game. The game board kind of reminded me of Joustus from Shovel Knight a little bit, but the concept of that game is different. A really nice touch were the voice lines of the characters. Great job!

A really good game. Loved the voice acting. Gameplay was fun and satisfying and the AI was really well made, especially for a jam. Overall it was really fun. Well done.

This game is fun! I can see it being a great game if you develop it more and add more units and levels, maybe even more mechanics.

The gameplay and graphics are great with some wacky voice lines, I like how everything is implemented and how smoothly the gameplay flows after you learn how everything works, a tutorial level would be nice to introduce everything through gameplay instead of a wall of text, but that's really the only complaint i have

Really complex and well made game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 49 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/QOqT7v58gqA

It's so impressive that you manage to do a AI with so little time ! It's really fun to play and it's not that easy to bit the AI.

This was a very fun game! One of the I went to play another round right away. I agree with the person above me that this would make a great card game, almost like a small scale risk.
