Atlas The Clownlifter by Croped

[raw]
made by Croped for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Poster5x4_Cover.png

It's nineteen-something-something, Atlas the man with the strongest finger in the known world, tries to build the biggest clown tower ever seen on only his index finger.

Enter the show, pay a penny and be amazed!

You also can be amazing by helping Atlas with his unbelievable task, balancing all the small and long clowns he could gather. Beware, this is no task for the weak minded, as the onlookers are envious and they will throw lettuce and tomatoes as you stack more and more clowns.

DO NOT DESPAIR THIS TASK IS A HARD ONE, AS ATLAS'S FINGER IS NOT BIG

Move Atlas left and right and try to catch a clown by its feet or hands.

It is very hard at the beginning but as soon as you get the gist of it, you will prevail

The game looks and sounds great. I like the idea and it is relevant to the theme. However, I played for a few minutes and did not manage to get a score higher than 1. I definitely think the game could have been easier. Also I think the camera is a bit too zoomed out. Other than that, though, it was good.

I loved the music. My only problem with this game is that it's so hard. Couldn't get past 1.

I don't understand why clowns are so difficult to balance until I have two of them stacked up on my index finger. I suppose it is just a fact of nature and I should not be so questioning of clowns, but it is an observable fact: just one is a slippery nightmare to balance, but two of them stacked on each other in any nonsensical configuration somehow begin to balance each other out in equilibrium. I wish they would launch themselves into the air in pairs, but alas, they don't seem to listen to my complaints.

I don't understand why some clowns bedevil me with ill-timed leaps directly to their doom. They endanger not only themselves, but also their kin who they throw to the ground along with them at great speed. Do they have a death wish? Are they simply deluded or incompetent? I cannot know. I have no time to ask these things in their very brief moment of peril, and they can never answer me again after their fated stunt is finished.

I don't understand why this audience is so insistent in ruining my work, my masterpiece of circus engineering. Don't they realize I am Atlas The Clownlifter, whose finger raises worlds of harlequin art that their minds will never completely comprehend? They pay for the privilege to share this tented space, and they need only to sit in rapt silence while I conduct the work that I, and only I, was born to do. Instead they throw vegetables with deadly and malicious aim, and I despair.

I don't understand many things about this accursed act, but I do understand this: this game seems to want me to despise it. This game is a bit buggy and more than a bit unfair. I'm halfway convinced this game *hates* me, and me in particular, and yet...I can't help but love it. Thank you for sharing this game.

I really love the art style in this game, but I have to say, it is a little bit too difficult for my liking. It would have been nice if the hitboxes were slightly bigger, but well done on this entry!

Stylistically very impressive. With more play testing I think it should be easy to iron out the issues people (including me) have had with the initial difficulty on the game.

When you said your game is much more difficult than us, I believe you now XD ahah
Is there a tip to find the balance? Because the object do not fall straight in my side, it is so haaaard mate XD
I gonna try again! I would like you to post a video with your gameplay !
The graphics and the sound design are funny and fit with the theme. Good job then and thanks for your game!!!

As others have said it is far to difficult to get started. Other than that I was impressed with the presentation and music.

I love the graphics in this game and the music but like others it is very hard to play. I want to really like this game but since I'm to crappy at stacking stuff I simply cannot play it.

Amazing graphics but insanely hard gameplay! Turning down the difficulty would probably make the game all the better!

This was rock hard. After a while of failing to finger clowns, I caught one of the buggers and build a clown death-spear. Very challenging, but worth the weight. The art is fantastic! I'd like to get a closer up of the action. Seemed so far away. The music was ace, and all worked well. Heres for more acts, next time.
