Clad In Plaid by ModdingMachine

Premise:
Brad the chad is clad in plaid. He has managed to end up on top of a building in an apocalyptic scenario, his objective? Stay on that dang building no matter the cost...

This game was made in 40 hours, excluding sleep and other applications of life. I restarted my game after 2 hours, as my idea was falling apart the further I coded. Crafted with Unity3D, Gimp, Audacity, and a lot of stress.

All This Information Is In-Game (with an expertly executed voice over, might I add)

Stats are cool, especially like 'number of things shot ' / 'minutes survived'

I did spend most of the time on my back shooting up at the sky and eventually I just rolled off the building.
Was expecting Elon Musk to come down, but maybe he was in the rocket? Or I didn't survive long enough.
!
@weine I plan on potentially introducing the game-in game-rather than introducing it through a practice level, so I keep the fast paced motion of the game, thank you for your feedback!
@ubershmekel Wow nice score! When I was playtesting it, I found that most people died around 500-700 so I kinda cut off the difficulty curve around there (mostly to save time), adding more content is something I definitly want to pursue in though. Thank you for your feedback!
@barrier Tis unfortunate, I would have loved to include more elon-musk references than just a simple rocket ship, and potentially even a boss, but I had to conserve time as best as possible. Something I might pursue when/if I publish a final version.
Once more, Thank you so much everyone for your feedback!!! It means a lot and has inspired me to potentially make this a complete game, (with multiplayer :smirk:), It definitly has been an adventure this last week, I acctually had several college papers that I had to work on back to back with this jam, and I am very happy that this game turned out as well as I was hoping it would.
Personally I wish I had developed the mood and enviroment of the scene more, a cityscape in the background with smog and other ambience would have definitly added to this game more. However, I am glad that I was able to focus on making this game very fast paced and engaging.
Good Luck to everyone who is competing! I cannot thank you all enough for your feedback and encouragement.

Gameplay wise, It felt like there wasn't much time to react to certain projectiles. The Sus blocks in particular had a tendency to spawn right next to a brick and there wasn't enough time for them to separate enough that I felt confident sniping it. Powerups felt solid, and the giant machine guns were a nice touch.
That said, the game itself felt like it dragged on. This is likely a pacing issue; the difficulty ramp probably just needs to be a bit faster for my tastes. These things are extremely hard to get right during compo, since it can only really be teased out with gameplay testing. Depending on your workflow, it could be good to set aside a few friends to test your game for feel and balance a few hours before the deadline so you can make any last minute tweaks; though I totally get why that might not always be possible.
Overall a super well done entry. Nice work!
I could hear music but twitch has it silenced.
