Emily vs the Unstable Creatures by JPatchZ

Emily is a pizza delivery woman who got trapped in a lift while hordes of unstable creatures goes to the attack! What could be happening? A computer glitch? A nightmare? Or just stress from work? Poor Emily... for her luck, perhaps, there is a mysterious little girl who can sell her heavy weaponary in exchange for some golden coins. If you didn't understand what is happening, you definitively should check this out!
This game was made by only three people in 72 hours and it's our first entry at the Ludum Dare. How crazy was that!!!
Protect the lift at any cost. Without it, you are not going to deliver the pizza.

Follow the story of Emily while she strives to accomplish her delivery.

Collect coins and buy upgrades for your gears. You will definitely need them!

Use Keyboard to control Emily, and mouse to interact with menu buttons.
- [A] To move left.
- [D] To move right.
- [Q] To change your weapon.
- [E] To throw grenade.
- [Space Bar] To advance dialogue.
- [ESC] To skip dialogue.
We updated the game pos-deadline to fix some critical bugs:
- Game was stacking at 9th floor; we fixed it.
- The icon for the button of 'Next dialogue message' was confusing for some players; we changed it.
- We also include a message on the splash screen warning the game could not load directly from a web browser and advising the player to download the .exe version.
IMPORTANT: Due to high quality images, the web-version of the game may not load for you. If this happen, there's a windows version in itch.io you can download. The downloaded version shouldn't have troubles to run directly from your PC.

though there are some minor bugs, like, sometimes the next message button dissapears
The game however did not load the first few attempts, might be the same problem @hwaet described.
One thing that slightly bothered me was the "⏩" button to advance the story, it could've be mistaken with "Fast-Forward". Maybe just a single "▶" would be fine.
- Loading time was really slow, but refreshing it a few times worked well!
- The sensitivity of the movement was a little high, and reducing it could be interesting!
- Cutest merchant ever! Avatars being animated was such a nice touch!
- UI/X elements could be clearer - the skip/continue buttons were essentially confusing
- Loved the rogue-light elements, and using the flamethrower was very satisfying!
- Typos, but it's an easy fix for you guys for sure!
Am glad I got to enjoy this, thanks for sharing! Let me know if I can help out again whenever. ^^
Well done!
Congrats! really beautiful art, good music and sound effects. Really fun!
Great job!
The gameplay and upgrade system was super satisfying, and it's impressive you were able to pull this together in the time provided.
I feel like the "unstable" elements (The glitch-laser and visuals on the enemy) weren't central components and didn't actually add that much to the game experience, so the connection to the theme could have been stronger in my opinion
.
Other than that, really fun game and amazing effort. Nice work!

I would have played longer, but sadly the game stopped spawning enemies on level 9. Just as I had bought my Panda-chan
I love the dialogue and upgrade descriptions, and the flamethrower is just so incredibly satisfying.
Are the grenades implmented? I bought the grenades but never got one, my grenade counter was always at 0
I see some people mentioned floor 9 bugging out, I got through floor 9, but floor 10 is just massively spawning lasers with no enemies endlessly for me, so I couldn't get all the upgrades.
Also, I couldn't get the granade launcher to work, looks like I never had any grenades on hand.
About the grenade, I was trying to fix a critical bug some users are reporting about the game stack at the 9th floor. Doing so, I ended up messing with the grenades by mistake ¬¬ Thanks for letting me know. I think I fixed it and things should work fine now.
A game with such a high degree of completion was made in 72 hours!
The characters is cute and lively, and UI looks great!
I'm having fun in my screen😆

Really fun game, love the upgrades (although the power creep was very real!). Excited to see how this game evolves!

As I said before, the graphics are fantastic. The dialog images give incredible depth to the game, everything visually speaking works beautifully.
Sound is perfect. Optimal volume and incredibly nice music. Every sound or sound effect used contributes to the quality that the game has.
And gameplay is the key to the game. Just so much fun. The upgrade system works very well. it's fun to buy upgrades and then test them on the poor unstable monsters hahahaha. And it was really lovely that you turned the game into an arcade after the story ends. And speaking of story, there's excellent text content in the game, which helps give it even more depth. Really everything works perfect!
And about the interpretation of the theme, I think it was a nice interpretation.
Lastly, I would like to say that I spent several minutes playing and managed to get all the upgrades. I really want to see this project as something bigger and I hope you have success with it! Good job!
The sheer amount of original artwork and music fully implemented is staggering. There's genuinely fun banter in between waves. The upgrades system (while kind of horribly broken and unbalanced) does exactly as you expect and actually adds components to the game instead of just being a raw damage/speed boost. In short, I don't know how this got done.
PLEASE take this postjam. I'd love to see more content and mechanics in this game to expand on it. You managed to do so much, and all polished to a T... even localization and dialogue skips, small QOL things that are unheard of in LD.
Please let me know if the soundtrack is available separately.
Topo muito produzir algo junto com vocês. Uma equipe maior abre muitas possibilidades de criar um jogo ainda mais bacana.
We will realease a expanded version for sure in the next weeks. You can follow my itch.io to be notified when so.
I personally love localizations and foreign languages. I hope I can make the game be localized to futher languages like spanish and french, and also anothers.
About the music, we did not make it. It's from a guy named Infraction. He he makes available a lot of increadible musics with licence free on youtube. You can check his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c/Infraction
You can see the name of the music we used at the credit screen, under the settings button in the game. Enjoy the music!
