First time jamming solo. I hope you'll enjoy it
Description
Put your reactions to the test. Fight against wave after wave of alien-plants-n-stuff, mean shit.
Can you beat the developer record?

Controls
Move - WASD
Attack - Left Mouse Button
Spend Energy - Right Mouse Button
Notes: This game was made with Unity. If you want to look at the source code to learn anything, be warned! At the end I kind of threw all kinds of code against the wall to see what stuck. It's a mess.

Great job!
The art set the mood nicely and the light effect was very cool.
Good effort!
The game has good mood. I like the art direction and the player animations, and it felt pretty satisfying to whack things away! I got through 5 waves and killed 24 enemies. Far, far from the dev high score!
Also. Congratulations of your first compo game!
Not so sure about the relation with the theme though. Graphics and lighting are great!
But, once again very well done :)

The melee attack paired paired with zipping around the arena from enemy to enemy was really fun, and it had a nice satisfying swing animation too.
@wafflesys, Thank you. Spot on, the theme is probably the weakest part of the game. Unstable was supposed to be the energy. But it didn't turn out all that unstable to be honest. I wrote a feature breakdown of it of you want to know more: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/moonbase-melee/moonbase-melee-unstable-energy-feature-breakdown
Really liked the vibe of the game and super impressive especially for a compo! A couple of small things that would add to the finished feel of the game would be just adding a little variation. If you have some slight pitch variation every time you hit something and maybe a slight pulsing effect where the circle of view grows and shrinks, little things like that would make it feel more complete and a bit more engaging without taking up to much dev time! Saying that, love the sound effects! They were so cute!
Overall, really great entry and polished well! Congrats!
Edit: just scrolled up and saw you did a post about the unstable energy so I kinda get it now! Also extra cool with the passive effects of the energy levels. I'd probs whack that in the description too so people know when they go to play the game :)
I didn’t encounter any bugs, and the game had a nice loop. But I should have been glad to use my energy to increase the light around the player. Sometimes I had the feeling of no chance to evade the spikes. Congratulation to your game!
Nice idea placing the developer's high score into the game. I should have done it in my game too.
