You're a construction worker who has been in charge of demolishing an unfinished skyscraper project that went wrong. Everything is all set up for blowing up the building but then you realize you forgot your lunch all the way on top of it. You are very hungry so you better hurry up and grab your grappling hook so that you can reach your precious lunch before the building completely collapses.

If the HTML5 version is laggy or has issues, you can also try downloading the desktop version for Windows or Linux on the itch.io page.

The game is made in the FTE QuakeWorld engine, using my own empty template and as well as my own tool to assist in deploying and testing the web version. Other tools used were - Blender for 3d - Gimp for the small amounts of 2d - netradiant-custom for q3bsp needs - Audacity and objects in my room for sound - SunVox for music

ooH it's such a cool concept and i love it!! grappling hooks were always super cool for me. i found it quite difficult tho, especially since sometimes you can't shoot the grappling hook right after it latches, and it gets really fast when it goes too high so i don't have enough time to grapple and fall. but still very fun!! has a lot of potential :D

Nice physics and the background is interesting. I love the idea of showing a laser dot when the hook is reachable. The most difficult thing for me is to reach upper layers when my character is blocked under a platform. But the feeling of finding a way to higher levels is good.

Really cool concept with a lot of potential. Unfortunately this game was really hard for me so I don't feel like I got to experience the full amount of fun the game had to offer. I think it would have been a little easier if you could have moved the character around with WASD. Audio design was great with a very satisfying grapple sound effect. Nice work!

Wow, great entry! Concept, graphics, audio and gameplay are all super solid! Movement gets a bit out of control at times, but overall it is really fun.

Oh man, I didn't realize it's "click again to let go" and I thought I had to double click or something ... but once I got the hang of that it was up and away ... on easy level at least ... I never did get my lunch :frowning2:

Mechanics took a bit of getting used to, but one you get the hang of it, landing a good hook is really fun! I definitely appreciated the easy mode! I had some trouble viewing when the hook was in/out though, would love a slightly more visible difference between the two, but all in all really good game!

Cool entry! I like the grapple mechanic and the level design. It is a bit challenging at the beginning, but once you start to get the hang of it there's a nice rhythm to the movement. The grapple sound effect is great too!

Excellent game mechanic! It feels great when you get a decent momentum and slingshot yourself up!

I would have loved to be able to move around at little bit, especially when on the ground, but other than that, great!

I like the concept but the game is somewhat laggy. There are times when the framerate starts to stutter and I miss a grapple I believe I would have hit otherwise.

This is a great little browser game. It has a 'Getting Over It' feel as I miss my grapple from space and descend towards earth desperately trying to land a saving hook. I'm going to come back to this to beat it on hard. I made it to the 520m mark on hard, but got too confident and overshot my lunch :( Also, hilarious premise...

it took me a while to figure out the grappling hook to make it to the corndog, definitely a skill based game that got my heart rate up! Great music too

Nicely done, graphics looked nice and gameplay was good once getting the hang on how to gain momentum with the hook. Didn't notice any lags or any other problems, and made it to that tasty corn dog eventually.

Really fun platformer! This is an example of grappling hook mechanic implemented almost perfectly. It took me a moment to get a grip on how it works, but once I did, I felt like a crossover between Spiderman and Bob the Builder.

One problem I had with the game was that it's pretty difficult to get on top of platforms. That isn't a problem through most of the level, but once you reach the top layer with your lunch, it could be really tricky.

Other than that, I absolutely loved it. Also, the WebGL build didn't seem to have any issue for me, everything worked perfectly. 😀

Great game! It could be better by allowing the control of movements using the keyboard or lowering a bit the difficulty.

Great concept and mechanics! It's quite hard even on easy to go higher and higher because you always end up right below a block. Maybe by letting the player swing in both directions it could be solved? Anyway, good job!

Oh boy, this game is so much fun!

The mechanics are fun, the graphics are cool, the theme is present. Amazing!

I can't remember a single game from @shp that disappointed me so far.

Excellent job (again)!

Cool little game. Often times, though, I'd get to the top of the "falling" platforms, and my grapple couldn't reach anything higher, as the platforms fall at different times, so there's a huge gap, and I just end up riding back to the ground. I get that I'm probably meant to be quick enough to stay ahead of that effect, but that requires a bit more quickness than I could manage, even on easy mode :pensive: . I do appreciate the "laser sight", though (especially as a console gamer I'm not so used to using my keyboard and mouse outside of my own gamedev projects).

I also think moving around with WASD might have saved my butt a time or two. Maybe a jump button? I get that those weren't within the idea of the game, and I can appreciate that.

Having said that, I did enjoy this game. Excellent sound work. Nice graphics, too.

Great job! And as a solo compo jam game, my issues are basically void. I understand the time constraint and pressure. All-in-all, this is a solid game. I just wasn't very good at it haha.

The game plays pretty well, took me a couple tries to reach space on hard, but it was a fun experience. The physics felt pretty good

Good idea! Solid implementation.
I had a bit a hard time with the controls (I normally play controller).
Your game got me into the flow, once I got a bit into the controls.
I wanted to get up and it was adrenalin rush.
Often the platforms above did fall, while trying to get up. Tricky. And the hook not always hooked.

Very fun game, it's really cool to see a simple idea so nicely implement. It will get a 5/5 fun from me. Nice 3d graphics, nice sounds. The music starts a little of place then it blends nicely with the action and you suddenly accept that you are a demolisher man that loves trance/techno

As a minor problem, when structures start to collapse there's really not much you can do (or maybe I'm bad at it)

Tons of fun, I thought the grappling mechanic was executed well. Graphics and audio are great. One of the most fun games I played, couldn't put it down lol. Great job!

Alcohol status: 38 minutes in. Feelin' a lil somethin' somethin', but games aren't challenging yet (reviewing might be a different story, we'll see).

Now, this is a game I was excited to play on PC. I first played it on mobile(Pixel XL) (despite unity and itch.io warning me not to), and it was really fun and challenging. The menu buttons were hard to click as it was clearly meant for computer resolution and was thus, very very tiny. But I could click them, and I could tap on the screen in the direction I wanted to shoot my grappling hook. So it was still really fun, if challenging, on easy mode. But I wanted to give a proper review, so I waited to play it on PC.

On PC, it's actually less fun for me. I can navigate the menus better and it's easier to play, but it doesn't feel as good as it did as a pseudo-mobile game. The length of how far I can shoot is unclear, and it feels really bad to click to release before I can shoot again: either I only click once and I am always constantly falling, or I am always double clicking, which is a problem at the beginning of the game. I would rather have one click, one shoot mechanics.

Overall, I really had a good time, especially on mobile. I couldn't stop "one more trying!" right up until I had class time / low battery. I did not have this same "just one more try!" feeling on PC, even though I made significantly more progress by about a hundred meters or so (the background color started changing, which I never reached on mobile). Really fun game, if you play your cards right.

This is a really cool climbing game using a swinging shooting mechanic that works solid. I wish I could play it in stable mode so I had more time to plan and I wish there were more platforms to actually land on so I could strategize. Someone said it would be cool and natural to move back and forth with wasd and I agree. maybe even a jump. Its really cool as it is. Nice work.
