Delusion by Elazulus

[raw]
made by Elazulus for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Control the Cap'n as the old ones cause mental torment, inducing hallucinations and sending waves of horrors at you! Blast your trusty blunderbuss or swing the electrically charged sword to slay the horrors, restoring a semblance of your sanity.

Don't let your sanity drop too low, as the hallucination effects will increase and suddenly you might just find yourself in the dark, or somewhere else entirely!TitleThumb.pngDELUSION SCREEN1.pngDELUSION SCREEN2.png

I gave you my feedback during the stream earlier, but I just wanted to reiterate that you should all be proud of the game you produced this weekend. Game jams are *hard.*

This is a really great looking game! I think the UI Design especially stands out, with the clockwork aesthetic. The animation has good clarity for the actions that you're doing as well, which is always a good game design plus. Great job on the game!

Great, nicely animated game :) Finished it on first attempt with a little of sanity left - totally forgot to use dodge :P

I'm a sucker for shooters! I loved this so much!! I didn't really use the sword that often but I liked wave progression and the increasing number and types of enemies! The final boss was also pretty fun to fight :D The animations were smooth and the glow from the projectiles are a nice touch! I would have liked for the map to be a bit smaller but overall I really enjoyed myself playing this game!

The graphics really hit my stop. Lovin' the retro. Same with the tune. Proper doom style. Tho I think it could have more sound indicators for hits/ new mobs. I survived until the 7th wave but only coz I really liked the feel of the sword hit and was running around doing mainly that :D

Nice one. Though lacks kinesthetics a bit and monsters feel to fast for the projectiles. Also I couldn't get how sanity is restored (or was it a bug?), and some healing would be nice.

Love the visuals.

Pretty good, does the trick

Does the insanity meter do anything beyond being the HP bar?

I found it a bit repetitive after a while - more variation from wave to wave would have been welcome

I didn't find the sword to be very useful

Keep it up (y) :)

Sanity meter was planned to have extra effects, but for now it just makes the screen darker and will teleport you around if it gets low enough.

Thank you for your feedback everyone! We really appreciate it <3

Needs a little more to go with the theme, but the game is a good start for a twin stick shooter. Enemies didn't seem very accurate, and need a little more variety. Maybe a slightly different AI for the different colours. Overall fun to play

Really well-put together twin stick game! It controlled very well, and the character animations are unreal for the amount of time you had! I will say though, some dying animations would have been greatly appreciated, having the enemies just blink out of existence was a little disorienting. The music was a good fit, but I do think it would have been very helpful for it to have a bit more variation as it developed. All in all though, really nice polished entry, I enjoyed it!
