A Game Where You Push Blocks into Holes

But with added instability

The cube world is in chaos! You must restore balance by pushing all the colored blocks where they need to be

Controls

WASD - Move player left, up, right, down Shift - Hold down when moving to perform a dash F11 - Toggle fullscreen Escape - Exit game

Mechanics

You play as the little white cube on a platform where larger colored cubes fall from the sky. Certain tiles on the platform will become goals, which expect a cube of a certain color to be pushed into them.

If you move into a cube, you push all cubes in a line one space forward. You may push cubes off the edge to get rid of them.

If you hold shift while pushing a cube, you will perform a kick which pushes the line of cubes as far as they can go, even off the edge. If a kick would send a cube past a goal, the cube will fall into the goal instead.

Fail to satisfy a goal before it disappears and you lose 2 life. Lose all life and your game is over.

If you kick multiple cubes into a goal at the same time, you will get 1 life back for each cube beyond the first.

The Chaos Cube

The chaos cube is a special cube that falls. It can be put into any goal to reset its timer. It can also be part of combos if there is another cube of the correct color. Pushing the chaos cube off the edge will shuffle the positions of all cubes and goals on the platform. Doing this will also buy you some time for the goals.

What a fun little experience. Props for doing a 3D game, it takes a lot for a 48 hour jam. I like the simplistic visuals and the colors make evereything pop nicely. It feels like a game that I would play on a boring math class for hours, so that's good.

Great job overall for actually finishing something <3

Really nice game! I really liked the gameplay - it was quite addicting. At first, I didn't read the rules and managed to last 5:46 minutes. Afterwards, I felt I could go on pretty indefinitely, what with the heals and relatively low difficulty. I feel like the grey blocks should maybe arrive earlier to make the game more challenging. Other than that, great entry!

Yeah I had a friend playtest and eventually they got to a point where they could keep going as long as they wanted. The game progresses in difficulty until a point which it stays at.
If I were to work on this game further, I would add more blocks with different mechanics, perhaps break it up into discrete levels.

Though this isn't my first 3D game, it's my most in-depth. I didn't have 3D set up in opengl before this, so the beginning of the compo was getting that working. A lot of things are hacks, like the normal lighting is baked in and wouldn't work if the blocks got rotated.

Great game! I enjoyed this one, nice and addictive. Pretty sure I've never seen similar concept. Also, wibbly-wobbly-textured cube looks nice :)
