made by Remn for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Welcome to our Ludum Dare 49 submission and to the unstable robot party.

Create different robots, strike a balance! You need to create more than 15 robots, of each faction. Warning! They're killing each other.

Like the art style, colors and the mood of this game. It's fun to experiment with the different characteristics of the robots. It's a bit unclear to me what the end goal is. But then again, is it really needed ;)? Ties into the theme very well. Just overall great work. Question for the artwork: what is your process for creating this artwork? Something like procreate on a tablet? Or Photoshop?

One quick thing - I would advise that you host an entire .zip somewhere instead of just a Google Drive folder; it was a bit finicky to download.

Cool art and an interesting idea - however, there wasn't much strategy involved. I found that the best strategy was just to spam everywhere until I won (which took about a minute).

Lots of potential, though! Good job :)

Cool vibes! I missed the goal at first, but once you get that it is like mixing dangerous fluids and see what happens. Could be cool to give some sort of subgoals, like keep 3 assassin's alive while also have 5 aggressive units.

Great aesthetic, a bit confused how i won. It would take a while to really *understand* the game to make really informed strategic decision, which isnt the best fit for a game jam, but besides that, this is nice and has potential. I enjoyed it!

Hi everyone! We are developers of this game. Thanks for the nice comments! Can you tell me how I can make the game better for you without breaking the jam rules? Can I fix the robot parameters? Or add labels about the goal?

really cool game I enjoyed it. It's hard to say how to improve it, maybe some more instantaneous tools to control robots (like maybe a freeze robot that prevented nearby robots from moving ). I also found after a little bit the game reduced to trying to keep the board clearish until i got 2 duplicating robots of different colours so maybe limiting replicators a bit more (perhaps they could only replicate once) might make the game feel more varied by removing the obvious low hanging fruit strategy. Not sure over all the game was great as it is.

Love the look and graphics! The game is pretty difficult but love the concept!

Anyway, great game, good job guys.

I have to be honest this is not my type of game, but your graphics and music and sound design were so damn good that I enjoyed just to keep spamming robots and watch them go against each other and then put a bomb in the middle of the crowdand watch the explosion. It was all so visually and hearingly (don't know if that's a real word, forgive me my english is a little rusty) satisfying that I wanted to never stop. I'm sorry if my comment is no use for improvement in your mechanics

Edit: is 2049 a tribute to the Blade Runner movie? If so you have all my respect

@studiorightside thanks a lot! For art, it's both Procreate and Photoshop. For texture animation After Effects:)

Really clean and appealing art style, and a cool concept overall. The biggest suggestion I could give would be to make the robot spawning not completely random. Right now the best strategy seems to be to just spam robots, but it might be interesting to see what robots are coming next or something to give the player more chance to strategize. Otherwise is a great, frantic management game!

Wow, really interesting take on the theme, the robots designs are great! Love the art and the game design, well done!

It's a cool concept and the artstyle is great, but it definitely needs some refinement - I was able to win without a significant amount of fighting by just placing the robots of each color on the opposite sides and bombs in the middle.

Thanks for your submission! The graphics and the style of this game are very nice! I think this core mechanic has potential, because it kept me trying over and over to figure out how to make some progress, but what I believe was a bug, just didn't let me. I think my resolution had some issues and the robots all got full range visibility. No matter where I placed the robots, they were crossing the map. I **believe** this is not what was intended. For the robots, maybe we could start slowly, by introducing one after another, so we can actually learn their mechanics and get familiar with their behaviour. In one of my attempts I got the maniac one quite earlier, and I couldn't do anything, I didn't even know what was killing it, making the playthrough very frustrating.
