Unstable Dissonance by One4Seven

[raw]
made by One4Seven for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Unstable Dissonance "Notes that are dissonant can sound harsh or unpleasant when played at the same time. Or they may simply feel "unstable";" https://www.earmaster.com/music-theory-online/ch05/chapter-5-3.html

Take some time listening to the soundscapes before merging them, sometimes the answer reveals itself

Game Created by Dominique McDonell (Sound Design) and Daniel Rosser (Games Programming, Game Design, Sound) Audio was generated in Ableton for the jam All Code for Game Design coded in the jam Animations all coded in DoTween / custom lerps

We generated all the sounds, blending all musical keys for each unique soundscape Aim of the game is to match musical keys in a way that feels right else the Singularity will become unstable and reset time all together

The audio and visuals are really neat! However, I'm not really sure how to play the game. By following objects, I can hear their sounds as feedback, a cue that something is happening, but I can't tell if it's something that helps me achieve the goal of the game.

Implementing some mechanic to track of how close the player is to succeeding at the goal of the game, or being more clear how existing mechanics of the game help the player tell if they are succeeding, I feel would definitely help a lot.

Otherwise, it's really neat what you were able to get done! :D

Really interesting idea! I really liked the aesthetic. I'm not sure how much the way you interact with the game like, matches the idea though. Flying around often felt more like it was frustrating my goal rather than making it better. I wanted to mix sounds without the weird navigation method. That said - the music was so good! I really enjoyed it overall!

I think I get how it works. You're supposed to match up harmonic sounds and avoid dissonant ones. Although I was a little confused on how to actually get to some of the objects as they weren't on the same plane as the black hole. But it was a really pretty game and that's a really cool idea. And as for the theme, it actually crashed my computer when I matched up a dissonant note XD So, very meta theme interpretation there :P It's pretty cool, though. Nice job and a really unique take on the theme!

Just released a small V002 with some bug fixes for states at the end, allowing mix around Camelot Wheel of 12-1

@miss-iiv @butterfly @almagor - Link working!!

@flywolfe Thank you!!! Oh wow yeah maybe the white flashes of the lines caused a power increase from the brightness. Maybe power supply issue filling all those bits! Used to happen to me on an old rig in games when flash banged! Apologies making your system unstable haha!
@nardanda Great feedback! I agree
@morhailen Thank you!!!!!
