art is super nice, sounds are great, very polished experience. lovely!
Good job!
The mood was great, and the added difficulty in the middle of the game made it quite tense.
This was really fun, I loved the visuals and music and despite my incompetent coworker, I made it to the treasure safely
Nice and unique take on the theme and the gameplay. I just like everything about this. My only gripe is that I had some longer periods of nothing to do, but I get that not everything can be perfect in a 3 day LD Jam :)
I appreciate the effort that went into the title page! Sometimes that's overlooked, but it checks all the boxes: sets the mood, provides a little creator info. Great stuff!
Love the character interactions, too! Loved the fourth-wall-breaking. But I think the captain needs to upgrade his crew ;) Adding some sort of in-game banner to interact with all 4 characters "to set sail" would have been helpful. Anyway, that start was a great "tutorial" before starting the hard part. Great idea!
Onto the game, the difficulty scale was really well polished. The spread of the 4 characters provided just enough challenge normally, and was decently challenging when the storms came! The little touches in those moments (animations and music uptempo) really helped sell it.
I think I would have appreciated some sort of progress bar somewhere to indicate how close I was to the end, even after you told me it was going to be 5 min. I nearly tanked on a rock the very last moment of the game, but I finally did succeed :)
A very unique and creative take on the theme! I really enjoyed my time playing this, and kudos for creating this in such a short time.
#### Some things I liked ####
- The mood, the polish, and the humor were all really well done.
- I also appreciated that there were cutscenes and a story that immediately pulled me in, and the characters were also very lively and likeable!
- I liked the game loop, and I felt that it provided just the right amount of challenge to keep it interesting.
- I also felt that the player was introduced to the mechanics in a thoughtful way. I never felt confused as to what to do.
- The art and graphical style was also very charming! Everything felt cohesive, and the art style definitely added a lot to the game.
- The sounds were nice, and helped pull everything together.
#### Some things that I felt could be done better: ####
- I felt that there should have been some sort of progress indicator that showed me how much time was left. Being told it's 5 minutes and the system status actually being visible throughout make for very different user experiences.
- I also would have like a little more challenge, so maybe adding difficulty toggles would be something for a future build.
As you can see, I do not have a lot of criticism, so I say **good job!** Thank you for helping me spend some time in a fun way.
Congratulations on the excellent game.
The two main things that I think should be changed is the addition of a health bar to see how close you are to sinking and making some of the interactions shorter. With that last one I am specifically thinking of when I accidentally press space in front of the rope ladder and have to just stare down at the enemy boat while I wait for the dialog to finish.
Even without those changes this game is really really good. This is the best game I have seen in the jam so far. Really great job!
I really enjoyed this one, the graphics are so freaking cool and the animations are just so good. I loved the little unique sound that each person makes when they talk, that is something which I might steal!
I have never really been a fan of typing games, but this doesn't really feel like one. You managed to balance it really well, I feel like it was always a really close call, but I juuuust managed. Really smart game design to have the player literally learn to walk, before the game starts.
There is so much I want to talk about, mainly the amount of polish that has gone into this. This is one of very few game jam entries where I can't really think about anything which could have been polished further, it's just perfect. The sound, music (and before mentioned voice effects) are all really good and add to the overall atmosphere and mood.
As always, fantastic entry!
Love the pirate theme. Interesting movement mechanics.
Nice entry!
