Dubious mushrooms by ocwal
Description:
You are farming mushrooms on a precariously balanced plateau at the bottom of a dark well.
Light stunts the mushrooms' growth and you can only grow the largest ones in the dark along the platform edges, but heavy mushrooms also make the platform unstable.
Plant mushroom-spores, wait for them to grow and harvest before the mushrooms starts to rot.
Bigger mushrooms mean higher points but also higher risk.
Get the highest score and leave the well, before plummeting into the dark!
Controls:
- Click to plant spore
- Click-hold grown mushroom to harvest
- Click-hold and drag to rotate platform
- Click "Get-Out" to retract your bucket and collect your points
Game Development:
This game was developed by a team of six enthusiasts (and two doggies) as our first attemt to make a game together. All aspects of the game where developed during the first 48 hours of Ludum Dare 49, from idea to final build. Almost all assets in the game (except, like, a font and one texture) where made by the team.
We had an amazingly fun time doing this! <3

The art, especially the mushroom sprites, is awesome. Mood and music was also on point. I would prefer if only one mouse button rotated the scene and the other planted since I often planted by accident. I escaped with a score of 20 and it is fun and cool game. Good job.
This is a really clever implementation of the theme - i really loved the music. It made retrying and retrying and retrying worth it because listening was so relaxing.
The game play is very difficult - clearly has a learning curve. I liked that a lot. Whenever i messed up i knew it was something i could have avoided. Really solid.
I think a couple of things to note - SFX go a super super long way. Even if it's a stock crumple paper sound effect when you're planting a mushroom, or a bloop when clicking a button (just something to say when something happens) i feel that really really brings together the game in a profound way.
Otherwise, this game is awesome. Music slaps.
Well done :)
Good stuff, looks like y'all had a lot of fun!
I didn't like the dissonance between the art of the background and the art of the character and mushrooms. It should all keep to one style, otherwise it just sort of creates graphic noise that could work in some crazy acid trip kinda game, but doesn't work here. Chose one style and stick with it for all your art needs  The pixel art on the mushrooms is nice, and I really like the changing states as the mushroom grows.
Once I developed a strategy of leaving old mushrooms in for counterbalance, I could just keep going forever

PS. Your cover art is very nice! Like an illustration from children's book :) - "The Awesome Adventures of Mr. Mushroom"
It came to my mind such an idea may be useful if you want to develop this game further:
Instead of mushrooms growing on a large mushroom. You are the keeper of a huge mushroom that grows huge pimples / pimples / blisters etc. You have to swing the bucket to catch the sick growth and pull it out, otherwise the hat of the great mushroom will fall towards the pressure of the blemish just like now. Such gamplay will add another layer of difficulty and the possibility of caring for other mutants of the mushroom. After each fungus healed, you pull yourself up and that is where your time and extra points are summed up. Then you go down and there's a new mushroom even more sick, etc. and so on. :mushroom:
Grats to the Team! you have a nice protoype to expand!
Could use a bit of sound effects to make the game even further more immersive - the balance could use a bit more polishing because you die wayyyy too quickly the moment just 1 of your mushroom gets harvested around the edge in the shadow, or one of them grew too big compared to the others and tipped the platform way too quickly.
