THE GAME

Travel through a floating island, all the while avoiding hostile insects and taking care not to destroy the whole thing in the process. And you get to do all this with a gun.

Play as a funny little leaf monster, and battle through a swarm of insects to finally reach the surface of this flying island. And dispatch as many bugs as possible, but be careful with where you choose to shoot!

And, of course, witness the beautiful wildlife as you go past, both internal and external, as well as the viscera and gibs you've created as well. Charming stuff.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE WHOLE THING
Making this game was stressful - the final WebGL build was definitely unstable! Despite that, I still enjoyed making the game and I learned a lot in the process, particularly with particles systems. I might have gone too far with the amount of particle colliders I added, but I can't deny that it was definitely fun to add. I also learned that WebGL is unreliable, and that sometimes it just randomly breaks, and I'm not salty about that at all. But it at least worked in the end, and I apologise that I had to use the development build! And I had so much fun designing and making the game that I can't really complain, and I'm excited to see what everyone else has done; Ludum Dare never disappoints! Thank you for taking the time to play my game!

I think if the game were easier to play in the early part it would be more engaging.
But I don't seem to feel the "unstable" theme though (although the game tells me that the island was destroyed after I broke a lot of spikes, I don't quite understand how it was triggered), more like a cheerful platform-killing game

@clonze Yeah, I would've loved to experiment a bit more with the idea, could've gone some more interesting ways, but it's good to hear you liked it regardless!
@memoryfloater Different biomes are a really good idea actually, now I wish I could go back and add some more! Glad you liked it.
@jaybaus Good to hear the checkpoint placement was alright, I was unsure if it was working well or not! Thanks for the comment!
@730 Thank you! And it's very impressive you found all 3 secrets, I honestly didn't expect anyone to find all of them. If I was cruel I'd say there was a 4th you missed, but there wasn't - well done on finding them all!
@iasonasgts A sound menu would've been the next thing I added if I hadn't been panicking on Monday night to get it uploaded :P. Thanks for saying that you liked it though!
@jessefreeman Thanks! It's definitely something I'd consider; I do have ideas on things to add to make it more complete and interesting.
The graphics are great. If you made the background a bit less bright, it might be easier to see what's background and what's not. Level design was mostly great. I felt that I was going around in circles, but I guess it was a big spiral? :D
Awesome!
