[raw]
made by Senor Salty for LD36 (JAM)
*EAR RAPE WARNING*
I just learned the music and sound is very loud on most computers.
Turn your sound down/off at your own risk!
Goblins are trying to attack your small village, and all you have to defend yourself is a ballista and some spells. Good luck.
CONTROLS:
A,S,and D all cast your different spells. A for an arrow shower,S for a meteor, and D for a throw spell.
Click to use your ballista.
ESC quits to the main menu, and R restarts the game.
Goblins, orks, ogres, goblin tinkerers and their small devices all threaten you in this small game made for LD 36.
Have fun and happy jamming!

doesn't work too well, looks like it would be a lot more fun if you had just a bit more time! still cool

The music was pretty rough to be honest. The core game is simple and there is some potential fun there but you would have been better off with no music I think.

I love the menu! I am a sucker for animated menus.

The sound design overall is pretty rough, I found myself reaching for the mute button very quickly. The enemies seem to have a little too much health, I could rarely knock them down in time despite spamming arrows into them. Also consider making your fonts a little crisper, pixelated text is harsh on the eyes.

I can see it being very fun with a bit of polish and shine though!

I liked the Idea. But your physics are off and your projectiles fall flat. If you didn't have time to fix that you could have just made cannon balls instead of arrows that don't fall right. I couldn't kill the bigger enemy's what was with that. Honestly if you fix this it could do well on Game Jolt or as a mobile app even.

I don't know why but I addicted with the music. I think some enemy have too much health and sometimes the spells have delays, so it miss the target.

Overall, I am confident that you can create better graphic and music. Keep up your good work!!! Cheers... :D

The music is super... funny haha it makes me laugh, it's so odd! I can't seem to kill the big guys with swords. I spray them with arrows and it doesn't do nothing. It's a nice concept, but needs a lot of polishing.

Thanks for the volume warning, though you could avoid the term "EAR RAPE!"

The music IS really funny, I like it a lot! The tone here is good, the art is funny though some areas could use some polish.

The physics are actually really good, the problem is that the arrow sprite doesn't rotate correctly (causing the arrows to fall flat sometimes) - you could probably fix this with some tweaking.

Finally, you spelled Defense wrong? Unless it's a fence pun?

Anyway, great game, you should be very proud of it!

Sadly I could not get this to run correctly :( . I hear sound but it just appears as black when it runs.

I would make the projectiles limited, so you can't just spam. Turn it into a bit more of a skill game with a curved trajectory. Don't know why, but I find the song insanely catchy!!

The music was hilarious, loved it. The problems I have with this is that the learning curve is way too steep for a game like this. The huge goblins are really hard to take down and they already begin to show up in the first level. Some of the goblins are so small it is hard to notice them. Also some more effects would be nice to make the arrow shots feel more impactful. If you have to spam arrows to kill the goblins, might as well make it full automatic so the player's fingers wont tire. Otherwise good job and good luck for future games.

This is a fun game, though I didn't really understand what I was doing.
However, once I got used to the controls, it was fairly easy although a bit strange.

Sounds like I'm having the exact same problem as Iseeicy, Runs with a black screen and music. Win 10, 64 bit.

@Iseeicy @thatsBamboo It might be because I have my windows operating on a 32 bit version of windows 8,other than that no idea what could be causing it.

Nice game, I think you should have some visual signal of health left for certain enemies, like the big goblin. I also think you should explain why the shielded ones are not being hit (so people know the strategy). Other than that, I think this game is good!

aside from the audio, i think the only thing i could say is to progressively introduce the game mechanics instead of throwing all of them at once to the player

Good start! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/KIzapWNCI0E

Would have appreciated a more-mature worded description. Could have just said the music has a bit to be desired.

Personally, didn't find the game to be that bad. The campaign seems decently balanced, and most spells didn't feel too over-powered or under-powered. Think more polish could be made on the trajectory of the arrows, because I expected it to shoot straight, yet gravity seemed to be applied on them.

Pretty good start, I say.
