Meteorite Meltdown by Grace Schorno

[raw]
made by Grace Schorno for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

You're staring up at the sunset one lovely evening when you see something strange... a shooting star?

No, it's a meteorite, and it's about to barrel right into the earth.

It's your job to dive into the crater and get a sample of whatever radioactive material the meteorite is made of. Be careful not to hit too many particles on the way down though; you still have to make it to the bottom to do the survey, otherwise your sacrifice will be in vain...

Instructions: Dodge the radioactive particles as you fall down into the crater. Try to make it to the meteorite at the bottom! If the radiation bar at the top of the screen fills up, it's game over.

This is well executed. And I am terrible and dodging games :) I love how well it syncs with the music.

Sweet game :) Likes: 1) Visuals are very nice. Simple. Clean. Consistent. 2) The gameplay is easy to understand and fitting. Character controller is well designed. Suggestions: 1) Increase the sense of speed while falling. Have background objects fly up the screen at an increased rate. 2) I found I would often get it twice or more times from one mistake because the particles are often grouped together. I think having some invincibility frames aften taking damage would be great. 3) Make the game easier haha.. Maybe I'm just got very good... Awesome game btw.

Nice job, this game is pretty easy to learn because of the simple character controls; but wait, the obstacles won't take it easy on you XD. I spent about half an hour on this game and it was really enjoyable, the music is pretty cool and I love it but when the obstacles hit me, that weird sound really gives me a bad feeling. Overall the game is pretty cool and lovely; keep it up! :D

Pretty simple premise, yet a rock solid execution and presentation! Tunes are sick

Pretty well done. I can't really comment on much of the game because I couldn't get past the first part when the particles start coming from the walls. I think if the up and down movement was as fast as the side to side I could probably get past that part. Otherwise well done!

Cool game, a nice challenge! I liked how the up/down movement was different to get the sense of free falling. Very polished, great music. The idea of some person just jumping into a huge crater is pretty funny too.

I got a bit of lag every time when the radioactive tentacle bits first rise up near the end, but it wasn't really an issue.

super job! had fun playing this - reminded me of the old days when i would play on my gameboy in the back of my parents car on long drives... really awesome job on the graphics and animation, nice smooth pixelartstyle, great scrolling anim in the backgound, gave a good impression on the speed. nice kink in the steering mechanics, letting loose w-key. great job! love it!

Really fun game, The dodging is quite difficult however you can "skip" the first part by staying on the lower corner, you will never touch anything but the flame are good to avoid cheating all the way. Very good music !

I liked having to dodge particles from both the vertical and horizontal directions. It was challenging, but then when I went through a long stretch of dodging everything I felt like a god :)
