Atomic Decay by Zahab_AQ

[raw]
made by Zahab_AQ for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

A short game I made for Ludum Dare 49. I'm fairly new to game dev, so I hope to improve jam by jam. I had a lot of fun making this, and I hope you enjoy!

Instructions:
  • Arrow Keys to Move
  • The mad scientist's reactor is getting unstable. Place the correct color in the depositor to increase stability.
  • Wrong deposits decrease stability.
  • To get secondary colors, place the corresponding primary colors in the mixer.
  • You're a mad scientist, so you can't just drop stuff. If you pick up something you don't want, place it in the trash chute to get rid of it!

Great game! The controls can probably be polished more and made easier to use, but good concept, easy to grasp, well executed!

Okay, I made a score of 804. In a few days I'll come back to see what's the highest.

I like the game, but I found a little bug: I was about to loose when I put a correct potion gaining other green in the bar but after a half a sec the timer went out and lost (even tho I still had some green in the bar).

Overall solid game. The mechanics are easy to learn and playing was fun. Perhaps the player was too fast, and the game didn't change much over time. Great game!

Really simple but fun mechanic. I got 690 points. My only problem is, that it is so easy to pick wrong color, but it took so long to go to the trash container, I would like to have some button that would do that. But I understand why you did it that way :)

Really cool game! I liked the concept. The only problem was that sometimes I got stuck waiting for a color that didn't spawn or took forever to spawn. Besides that it's really challenging and fun :) well done (My top score was 1310)

Cute game! It was entertaining. Our high-score was 610. All it's missing is some more sounds and polish :)

Good job!

Fun game concept even though I didn't score very highly because I'm colour blind. Some polish of the controls and adding sound effects would take it to the next level.

Pretty fun game, I kept accidentally picking up the wrong potion and panicking though, don't think I did very well

Maybe the movement is a little too fast, but it makes sense after exercise. As some have mentioned, the sound would add a lot. Anyway good start, keep going!

I liked it! Mixing colors is fun! It was a little frustrating that I kept automatically picking up everything on my path when I didn't need those, but that's part of what makes it difficult! Good job!

Simple and fun. I really like the speed of the game you picked. The speed plus amount of things that can get on the floor makes choosing a route relatively interesting. I liked that there is some aspect of queueing up vials if you keep putting things into the mixer. That was one reason I was able to get my score. It did backfire though. I believe I probably could've played forever but it bugged out and didn't give me the correct color result when I had several vials queued.

Great idea and I think some additional obstacles that might change your routing would serve to push this even further. Maybe something where you need to apply a specific color to it to do something.

You've submitted a pretty solid game to someone new to gamedev. The mechanics are simple but it works very well. And it had a cool fit with the theme. Good job

I finished with a score of 1000. It's really fun little game. Definitely funnier than you would expect. The controls are bit difficult at start, because the scientist is running like crazy. But when it clicks, it's great. I always lost because of accidentaly thrashing some of the colors. The mechanics aren't very deep but that doesn't matter for jam game. I think it's overall very enjoyable.

Very nice take on the theme, and lovely graphics. I love the potion mixing element, really brings it up from a perfectly good jam game to something that's hectic in just the right way to get you hooked!

Very nice concept! random-mechanism is a bit unbalance, sometimes I cannot get the things I need. A bit hard but fun.

Really enjoyed it! I really love the combination system. My only issue with the game is that my runs always ended when it just doesn't send the color you need for too long

Really fun simple game. The controls felt good enough, it was clear what are you supposed to do. The only things I was missing were some sound effects and music that would make the game more lively. Also the appearance of the colours could be little bit more balanced because it happened quite often that the colour you needed wasn't appearing often and you needed it several times in a row. Overall, great submission for someone new in game dev.

Great execution, and well scoped for a jam game! I really felt stressed by the timer and enjoyed trying to run around and avoid stuff I didn't want while making the color I needed. I wish a little bit that I could have dropped what I'm holding in the case that I accidentally picked something up, or maybe some kind of ability that lets me dash/warp in the direction I'm heading so I can get to where I'm going a little bit faster. Right now, it feels a little bit like it's out of my control when I have to run something to the trash and don't have enough time to keep going. Great work overall!

I wish you had music and something to explain you what to do at the beginning. nice funny game

Fun game! I was a little lost at the start but this could be fixed super quickly with a single in-game screen explaining the mechanics. The sketched style of the art is really nice and the whole game feels very visually clear. Great job!
