Good writing and good text effects with really good music with it. I think I noticed some of the character's audio text effects were switched around at some points, making it sound like it was the main character saying stuff.
Top notch humor throughout, it was enjoyable all the way through!
For next time, maybe consider a slightly more readable font, but other than that, good stuff!
I have two issues, one more serious than the other. One is that it's hard to tell at times who's talking - there's quote marks, yes, but I got really confused at Fronk and Stacy's scenes because I mistook their dialogue for the protagonist's. The second is...everything with Stacy is ***really, really gross.*** Like I get the whole succubus angle, but the narration is trying *way* too hard to have its cake and eat it too, like, "she's *sooooo* sexy we're going to go through the whole thesaurus describing her boobs, but it's okay since she's evil and you're being brainwashed."
It's a shame, because I really liked everything else (especially FRONK ASCENDED!), but the Stacy scene was enough to put a big dent in my enjoyment.
I knew the Stacy stuff was going to be divisive, haha... That scene was supposed to be completely ridiculous, shameless and on-the-nose, with no subtlety whatsoever. We had a really fun time writing that part, but of course it saddens me that it made it difficult for some people to enjoy the game. Ultimately, me and @liquidfunk write dialogue with ourselves as the audience, with the sole purpose of making the other person laugh. Often (and almost as a rule) the end result is stupid and immature. But that's how we like it... Thank you for sticking through with the game despite the parts that were difficult to get through!
I personally didn't have any problems reading the text, though. And I really truly did enjoy the humor (with the exception of the bit with Stacy at the end). It had me chuckling throughout, and the music seemed to fit just right, too. I especially enjoyed how the tempo picked up when you encounter the "ascended." Good job c:
With that being said, I feel like this type of game would benefit a lot from some type amount of choice or player agency. As it is, it's pretty much just going through all of the existing dialogue options until you get to the end. Also, the font used can be a bit hard to read at some points (specifically M's and W's imo), I understand you were going for a specific look, but I feel like a game that is mostly reading text should have extremely clear and readable text.
All in all, very cool! I would definitely play a full version of this type of game
gave x permission and tried to run but it failed
$ ./milburt.love
bash: ./milburt.love: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error
any suggestion?
love milburt.love
And not treat it as an exe like you did!
I liked the font effects, but agree with another comment, that some letters are hard to read. Graphics in general were very cool and were consistent in a style.
It also wasn't immediately clear how to navigate within the dialogues.
I enjoyed the humour and chuckled in multiple occasions.
Nice job!
