Congratulation for finishing the compo! This game feels so complete and I like those different levels of difficulty. I thing it would be great to add some positive feedback for the player like cool vfx if a player typed really fast that spell (maybe there such stuff, i just didn't get there). Really nice job!
I really loved that the music intensifies with the difficulty of the game, and that was pretty fun to hear twentythree consecutive sploshes ahah x)
Really fun and the difficulty curve is really smooth too, the player has time to get in the game.
Very well done!
The music fits really well and, the effect of things going into the cauldron were pleasant to hear.
I was also somewhat distracted by the line break issue that @erikengineengineer and @mathiouza mentioned.
It was fun and did a good job of getting you to feel the rising intensity.
9281 on easy mode.
7480 on hard mode.
Pros
- Good and neat graphics
- Ending with the exploding house is great, made me laugh
- Music & Sounds
- Easy and straightforward to understand, good job on that!
Cons
- Not really a con, but wishing something different would happen when we go further in the game, like having some twist in the gameplay at some point which makes the typing challenge evolve with a different metric than just the length of the words
Overall it's impressive and fun work for a compo entry, well done!
I agree that it is very satisfying to see a large number of things thrown into the pot. One thing that kind of bugged me was that the word itself was really far away from the pot in the middle way down in the bottom left corner, since I was playing in full screen, so I didn't really get to pay much attention to the beautiful animations in the center of the screen.
Also, I find it a little bit weird that there is essentially no punishment for mistyping a word. I'd maybe have expected that it discards the ingredient and you'd have to type a new one without resetting the timer or something. Maybe just for hard mode, too. I got a score of 11060 in that, and I typed so many things wrong, lol.
Anyway, the game is great. It's very well polished, especially for a compo. The typing game works great with the potion idea, the graphics are amazing and the music speeding up adds a lot. Impressive stuff !
Your game looks pretty cozy, I gotta try it later!
This was a delicious experience!
Very nice!!
Cool vibe for sure, and the way it didn't ravage me for any mistakes (and even allowed me to skip spaces) was a nice touch that let me try to go really fast without hesitation or fear, and avoided the feelbad moment of just hitting one wrong key to be gameover. Smart design.
The environment was nicely done, although the gameplay didn't really allow me to look around at it very much, so I'm not sure I took advantage of the eyecandy.
Sound and music really clinched the atmosphere and made it all work.
Nice all-around compo, well done.
