Thanks for the web build. I think it worked perfectly and I don't really like downloading and runnning random .exe .
The "twist" felt kinda gratuitous tbh, not sure it's my thing but it's always nice to try and surprise the player. Overall, nice entry!
The penguin controls are really responsive, and the melting/sinking iceberg mechanic is just great. My first thought upon finishing the first level was "I wish there was some sort of reward for moving the penguins simultaneously", and your answer to that is really innovative.
The twist was unexpected (good!) but it was a little unclear what was going on. I'm still not 100% sure if I ended up in the twist because you'd forced it or if I missed a puzzle solution. I'm also not sure if I experienced everything the twist had to offer.
Bonus points for creating a 3D game that I can actually run in my browser.
Anyway, nice entry, graphics are awesome, slide mechanic feels fair and controls are smooth, I feel like it can be a mayhem kind of game on mobile to pass time.
I was so shocked when the game style changed, haha
So cool. So cool. Congrats
I really didn't expect that twist.
Awesome graphics and great implementation of different game modes.
The music was very fitting!
Great job!
Absolutely loved the twist, I laughed so hard, it was amazing!
Graphics looked very good.
The sounds were nice and the music very fitting.
Felt like it could use some way to reset the game manually, since losing a penguin meant i had to sacrifice the others to the sea.
Overall a very fun and cute game.
(You guys made the black penguins eyes red so it looked like it was on [*redacted*] on purpose, didn't you.)
Innovative idea and solid execution. Was NOT something I expected to find in this jam, awesome work!
Great work!
Awesome work!
BTW I love that you can select the penguin on the main screen and just throw it into the sea XD and I think that the black penguin might be evil
Great work!
...but really, I went in expecting a twist, due to it and a few other ratings I skimmed through here, and I wasn't left disappointed. The perspective change half-way through the game is an amazing twist. Combined with the great audio design and with how surprisingly polished the game is... This isn't a jam game, it's an experience. Literally 10/10
That was such an amazing "what the f-" moment, that I was genuinely in awe at what just happened. So then it goes back to goofy bumpy penguins right? And I'm just bumping along now fearing what I've witnessed. That's some brand new emotions right there.
Anyway, super adorable, I love the goofy little dudes, very cute. This game just makes me h̵̘͝a̸͕̰͆p̶̙̓̕p̴̳̺̈́̋y̵̨͋̈́.
The whole game could only have been built on this element. The dark chaotic would not have been necessary. But still great game with cool graphics. congrats on your entry.
The game is indeed a very solid entry even without the twist, the controls felt a bit unintuitive at first, but it was fun to try to master it. The art is also really nice, cute (usually :D) and fitting.
I also liked the movement mechanic, but I had a hard time perceiving the height of the icebergs, where penguins start.
From the narrative point of view: the fact that only penguin is needed to complete a level, made me think that maybe only penguin is needed to complete that creepy ritual(?) at the end.
This alone make me think about your game as something that MUST be further explored, and therefore that you wrote a good experience.
Strengths :
- Polish all the way (visual/gameplay/…)
- Fantastic tonal shift, with some recontextualisation along the way
Possible improvement :
- I do not really see any ; platforms with elevation at the start are a bit confusing, but that’s a nitpick
Fantastic game !
But suddenly... oh no
Nice plotwist, didn't expect it, cool game :)
THANK YOU!!!
It was an amazing trip! I don't even know what I just saw but it was wonderful!!
Guys you made my day I'm serious, just downloaded the .zip that will go straight to my private collection
Really unexpected twist though! The first portion of the game was solid in and of itself and makes a good puzzle game, but good job with the unsettling atmosphere of the second portion. I don't really understand what was going on but it was disturbing lol. Overall great art and music, and you succeeded at subverting my expectations. Good work guys!
Most unexpected game of the competition! <3
Thank you for the game, well done!
Thank you for the game, well done!
Ok admittedly I had to ask my friend to play the game for me, but it's quite well polished. I think there was some disconnect between 1st person and top-down, as in the modes felt like they were part of different games, but maybe that's what you were going for. Overall, really nice job done, and I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight.
Great entry.
!> You really got me the first time the starry blob monster came for me! Here I was thinking the "not suitable for kids and easily disturbed people" warning was just a weird way of doing the photosensitivity warning, and then....
Great synth sounds, by the way.
The gameplay was fun, maybe a little too much disjointed? It's hard to know if you're winning or loosing. Especially when the "base game" is already hard !
It is a great looking in and well polished game, so cool to see you go above and beyond (the stars?) for the game, it delivered some interesting emotions.
Almost showed it to my gf saying "look at these cute penguins". Glad I didn't :)
