Unstable Engines is an attempt at a racing game where the controls change. Every 15 seconds a key will change that controls the car.

Features:

  • No sound effects
  • Programmer 'art'
  • Annoying control scheme
  • Unmappable Controls
  • One whole track!

Known Bugs:

  • Firefox 92.0.1 seems to crash randomly on my laptop, same version on desktop is fine. Other browsers seem to have no issues so far.

Interesting concept. Was very hard to stay on the road, even before switching the keys! struggled after that, but good job on the game!

Fun idea - very, very unforgiving controls/track :). I think that on further iterations, it might be fun to add a health mechanic to give more direct feedback to the player on where they're going wrong (i,e if they shift too far from the track). But overall, cool idea :)

I managed to finish. The control for forward and right never changed for me, only reverse and left. Still a nice entry, very good you made it, congratz!!!
You should opt out of audio, perhaps? :)
It works just fine in Firefox 92.

There is something really weird, The first time I opened the game it said :- "Race Complete!". So, is that a bug or is it intentional? After couple of seconds it showed the race starting and countdown. I know it's "UNSTABLE" but I think this one is too unstable. At first, I didn't even understand the goal. Nice idea though, the game has really good potential!

Well done. That was really difficult. I kept pressing the wrong buttons all the time :laughing: But I had a fun time doing it.
