Emotionally Unstable by Apandso

[raw]
made by Apandso for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Balance happiness, sadness and your life time which is running out.

screensm.png

The value on left top corner is happiness and right top corner is sadness. You have to keep these below 100. Left bottom corner is how much the accessory changes your health, which you must keep as high as possible. Health also runs out as time goes on. The value in right bottom corner is you progress to next level which you want to be high as possible. There is reroll button to get new options in the center but it has a cooldown so don’t waste it.

Eveything made by me.

Numbers in cards a bit random, as I didn't have enough time.

I wanted to add animations but didnt have time for it as well.

The sound effects and drawing are great I was slightly confused at the start on how to play so maybe a bit more in depth instructions may help? But overall great job :)

Should have a little blurb up front explaining how to play, but also it's pretty intuitive so a lack of instructions isn't the worst thing. I quite enjoy the graphics and the gameplay is interesting, especially with how it constantly shifts your little avatar thingy. It's got some potential as a fun, casual deck builder some day in the future. Well done.

Well...I understand the concept of keeping the feeling in balance, but can't see how I win(I win 3 levels and get 3 new cards, and in one play I lost because I was too happy). The art and music and how we create a new persona for every card we play is a great idea, i just miss a tutorial to understand better what is happening.

Fun little game . it was a little confusing at the start as I didn't know what I actually had to do until I started clicking and worked it out.
id suggest maybe having an initial menu with a simple "How To" to explain the controls and what each symbol means on the cards

otherwise great game :)

Nice game. I think a small tutorial or just a slower start would be great. Anyway, after some training I really found it fun and stayed for a while.

This is a really nice game, I love the art-style!
Though in the beginning, I found myself only paying attention to the orange and blue numbers, which I also tried to click on. Later I found out that it is the whole card you click on.
After some optimizing and balancing you could definitely put it on an app store! :)
Well done!

It's fun! Thanks.

When you get used to it, it also becomes relaxing! I liked the atmosphere and the music.

Of the minuses, I did not immediately understand what to do.

Your art is through the roof:)!

It was little bit hard to start, I can advice to add explanation to game description (I think it is not against the rules).

Gameplay is simple, but engaging, collecting something is always a nice way to keep people playing :)

Keep up!

Love the art for it. Was a bit confusing at first but was able to pick up the rules quickly. Was able to get to level 13, could probably do better if I played more. Good job, didn't expect to see someone make a deck building game.

Liked the art style and sound design. A bit more instructions on what to do would be nice but eventually figured out what to do. All of the cards I got had only positive numbers for the red and green bar which resulted in me only being focused on the numbers for happiness and sadness. I think if you added some negative numbers for the green and red bars, it would make it a bit more challenging and require the player to pay attention to all the values on the card.

@thedude3600 Thank you! Yes, I decided to keep the game simple and let players worry only about 2 characteristics that can go overboard due to their choices.
But you are right there is a potential to make it more challenging with decreasing red and green (hp and expa) as well. Will keep that in mind :)

@apandso Happy to help. I made a typo there though: "which you must high as possible." while referring to the health.

I really like the concept, but it needs more balancing, it felt way too easy, and very often I had to choose between two cards where one of them is absolutely better than the other one in every possible way (or sometimes I had to choose between two absolutely identical cards).

I love the cartoon style graphics! Fun to play! The music track is great, but the loop is just a bit short. But overall I like it!
