Hunk o' Junk by TinyWhaleCloud
About the game
Set in the not so distant future in a very different parallel universe, you are a space cab driver. You have to transport passengers from planet to planet. The faster you are the better you are paid. However, the fastest routes are also the most dangerous since there are asteroid fields on them.
Can you survive in a space ship that is slowly falling apart with every small impact? What will you chose? A quick and fuel efficient ride or a safe one that is less profitable?
Reaching planets and bases allows you to repair your ship, restock on fuel and pick up passengers.
(Sadly we did not finish the upgrade functionality in time for the jam)
Hitting asteroids will destroy parts of your ship.
Depending on what parts you lose, controlling the ship can get more difficult or your fuel capacity is reduced.
Whenever you deliver a passenger, the planet you deliver it to will like you a bit more.
If they like you enough, you will be able to get rebates on fuel and repairs.
But be warned, if you lose a passenger due to the passenger module being hit, the planet will like you less.
If a planet dislikes you, they will shoot rockts at you if you enter their atmosphere without a passenger.
Just a small tip: You do not want to piss off the geese.!
About the people behind it
This game was made by binaryDiv and dysphoricUnicorn.
This is the first jam we entered together (although dysphoricUnicorn did take part in js13kgames back in 2018 before we knew each other) and we obviously chose a scope that was way too large for 72hours.
(Especially considering none of us has really used Godot before)
Still, we managed to complete a majority of the planned features and the game is playable.
There still are a bunch of bugs left over but that is to be expected.
We hope you have fun trying out our game.

There's a few QoL improvements that could be made; if you miss where to deliver your passenger, you just have to fly around blindly (at least I did because I missed that it sets the waypoint automatically until a few passengers in) until you find the right destination, so a small: "deliver passenger to Goosington" in the UI could have gone a long way. Also, when you do deliver your passenger, it could have been made clearer, there is a text box that tells you, but it is only on screen for a second or two, so you have barely any time to read it.
Allowing the player to scroll the map would have been nice, as it is now you just aim in a general direction until your map shows you what you need.
There didn't seem to be much consequence for hitting asteroids (which was hard to do, they are pretty sparse until you get through a fair few passengers), you can just repair your ship for very little money.
The sound of the ship's engine got annoying very quickly, and the game could have used more music/sfx overall.
