What is a unicycle without a clown to ride it? A cycle?

It doesn't matter anyway because this unicycle is on a quest to find a clown.

Take control of an unstable unicycle in this difficult physics platformer!

Incredibly agrivating. But in the best way possible. Good job. Slowly but surely I become one with the unicycle.

This was incredibly annoying and also brilliant :D Getting the hang of balancing the uni took a little work but it felt really good. The feeling of satisfaction when you reach a checkpoint was incredibly awesome. Really has that 'Getting Over It' vibe in terms of reward and challenge with some great level design. Great work!

Can I buy Getting Over It?

We have Getting Over It at home.

Getting Over It at home:

But seriously this game was the definition of fun but frustrating. The presentation is really good, and the controls (only tried keyboard) are difficult but rewarding. I was able to beat it, but it took quite a few tries. Being a jam game I feel like it would benefit from being a little bit easier, perhaps with additional challenge as a bonus. Also the name is 5/5.

hhhh I love/hate it, congrats on the controller, feels just wobbly enough to give you hope that you'll make it just before you plummet to the spikes

I must admit. To someone with my skills... it was much to high a challenge. I managed to get over the first spikes perhaps 5 times. I fell in many many more. What I never managed was to climb the rock right after the spikes.

I do well understand that it's supposed to be one of those infernally hard games, but I think it could do with some easier progression in the beginning allowing the player to encounter each new problem in isolation and learn how to manage it before having to do combos.

But from the very little part I could play, the controls felt solid and I liked the style of the game!

Extremely difficult game, yet fun enough to have me trying for a bit too long lol Thank god there are actually checkpoints in it.

I enjoyed the concept very much, I like graphics and art. You have put some pretty small game!

The game is like really difficult. I think is because level design is really unforgiving. Maybe more checkpoints would be a good idea?

I think this game really fits the theme :)

One thing I noticed regarding the parallax background: the movement of the background on the y-axis seems inverted. I think the hills in the background should move down as the unicycle moves up. The way it is now is visually a little bit confusing IMHO.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

@hilkojj they should be moving the right way, in my tests the higher you go the further down the screen the hills are. They do get closer together as they move down as they should do so this may be an optical illusion. If you're certain they're moving wrong this may be a bug.

@ryjcio @local-minimum unfortunately the level design took place for the most part in the final hour and a half or so of the jam so it suffered quite a bit from being rushed. I also had pretty good control of the unicycle myself at that stage so I couldn't guage difficulty as well. I'm considering adding a new level that better uses all the elements I created for level design and has a more reasonable difficulty curve.

I think that for people who enjoy this sort of thing the current level is probably reasonable but considering it's a jam entry I can imagine it's not as fun for the general audience. In my experience difficulty proves again and again to be the most difficult thing to get right in a jam ':D

The game concept and art style gives a vibe of old flash/smartphone games... Unfortunately I'm really bad at this one so I couldn't go past the second obstacle 😅

Pretty interesting concept to have two movement keys AND a jump. I gave up after the first checkpoint but I had a hell of a good time trying.

I love it! I get getting over it vibes but this feels a lot more reasonable to control, also the presentation is lovely! Honestly a contender for one of my favourites this jam!

Fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 49 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/_QnfntM1G-4
