Do you know which plant you had that issue with?
The rule isn't communicated the best, but the Carnivorous Plants are not allowed to be watered with the Watering Can, for example.
Love the music and art style.
At my first attempt I didn't quite understand the goal. Especially the box with the expiring progress bar in the upper left was really confusing at first, because it seemed like it showed my task and if the progress bar reaches zero, I'll lose. While in reality it was more a... progress until the next level? That could have been more clear.
Also, holding E to refill the bottle would have been very helpful (and also more accessible, my hand literally hurts from spamming the key to refill fast enough).
The balancing could be a bit better too, the game felt overwhelming very quickly. But balancing is a very difficult thing especially in a game jam, so it's understandable.
Overall, really cool game, there were some nice ideas (with all the different plant types that have their own "abilities"), and again, the music was cute, reminded me a bit of Stardew Valley. :)
Well done!
Thank you for sharing your game on my Twitch stream (MsMiaChar). Here's the link if you're interested in checking it out again (game starts around 00:47:00): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1446760516
I like the voice and the music - the parched "WA-TER" voice was the best. I really like how the whole things felt well put together, really has a professional casual game vibe. Being able the choose upgrades was unexpected and great.
Good job!
Things I liked:
- It fit the theme perfectly. I knew it was just a matter of time before a plant died but I never knew when it would happen. Great idea to only be able to see a few plants at a time and have to constantly run around. Made things really hectic!
- The art and music were both outstanding, far beyond what I expect from a jam. They both gave the game a bright and cheery theme.
- I like that you added in multiple ways to water plants and a bunch of extra upgrades. This makes the game feel a lot deeper and I'm just really impressed by the amount of content you squeezed in while keeping it polished
Things that I think could be improved:
- I didn't like that you have to click rapidly to fill water but then hold the mouse button to water plants. I think you could choose one or the other and stick with it (I like hold mouse button to fill and to water)
- I was never really sure exactly where my balloon would land. It would be nice to have that be a little clearer
Having multiple fountains spread out would be a cool addition. Or to be able to place your own mini fountains instead of always running back to the middle would be cool too
Overall, I'm super impressed with this game. crazy level of polish for a three day jam!
Thanks for playing! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the music/audio, I had a lot of fun composing for it and I was heavily inspired by games like Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, old-school RPGs (town/village/world map music) and of course 'The Great British Baking Show' ;)
The 'WAAATER', 'happy plant sigh', and 'gasping for air' SFX are actually recordings of my wife Marija, and they were all completely improvised/unrehearsed. I basically just hit the record button and told her to close her eyes and 'pretend to be a thirsty plant' lol. We're so happy they made it into the game and brought some smiles, and she is also stoked to have her first official video game credit/cameo!
Also, I just released the Original Soundtrack (along with a bunch of other game OSTs, remixes etc) for anyone who's interested =)

My only complaint is that the tool filling was not press and hold like watering was. It was not very fun to press "E" over and over again :)
Also, excellent job on the introduction! Too funny! I love a good voice over :)
