Asteroid Anarchy by Mateu
An asteroid is hurtling towards the Earth! A group of anarchists put a thruster on the asteroid to destroy the planet. It is your job to destroy the energy cores powering the thrusters. If you destroy all 5 of them, it will slow the asteroid down long enough for the people on Earth to escape.
Use WASD or arrow keys to control your ship. Hold space to shoot.
This is my second Ludum Dare! I really hope you all enjoy. Thanks to Common for doing all the 3d modeling. If you put a comment and rating on my game, I will do the same for yours.
BTW, my best remaining time was 44 seconds. If you can do better I would be impressed :)
EDIT 1: Fixed WebGL bug where the Earth would not appear.

Constructive feedback I have for you is that the graphics don't feel too cohesive to me. Each individual piece is pretty good, like distinct silhouettes for each type of turret that clearly indicate how they're going to attack. But it almost feels like each piece was made in a different art style and then mixed together. The asteroid has pretty high detail geometry and texture, while the turrets are low poly and colored flat.
Controls felt great, played very smooth, and difficulty was perfect.
Anyway, this all might just be cause I am not as good at videogames. Still the game looks really ccool and you managed to pull of an impressive amount of things in it. Bullet-hell, intro outro. Heck you thankuflly only made me sit through the briefing once instead of every time I died. Oh and I loved that whole revolving planet thing you have going on. Really cool game !
I like that you only have to watch the intro and the defeat message once, makes retrying more fluid. Only complaint I have here is that you should be able to navigate the menu with the keyboard, or restart the game with spacebar, as moving your hands to the mouse qhich is only used in the menu disrupts the gameplay.
Going backwards don't feel that good as well, and I think it would be better to either let you go in all directions at the same speed and design around that, or to make it so you can't go backwards at all and design around that.
All in all, nice work!

I liked the sound effects and the graphics looked very "Star Wars-y"
One MAJOR design flaw with the game is that you dont show the score once the player wins. I did a bunch of replays to try and optimize my run (yes I'm a sweaty try-hard) and I was really proud of one of my runs, but I forgot to look at the timer before the end sequence!
I did another less enthusiastic run and I finished with 40 seconds remaining :/
Rather tough game, gives me Command and Conquer cutscene vibes, I dig it.
Other than that small nit pick, the game was enjoyable. I mean I played it repeatedly despite my frustrations.
What I mean to say is, its a solid entry. Well done!
I wish there was a way I could trade in points earned for power ups so the next time I restart, I have a better time lol
Also I found interesting the fact that the curvature of the asteroid sometimes makes shooting a bit difficult.
Good job overall!
Thanks for this entry.
