Welcome to Reactor Meltdown, Created by AdamIndieDev (@AdamJN).

The Springfield Nuclear reactor is in meltdown, Delay the meltdown by completing tasks. When a task is triggered you have just 15 seconds till catastrophic failure.

All Assets in this project were created by me from scratch except a couple of small UI elements, Fonts, The Duff beer can, the chair and The Simpsons (believe it or not).

Controls

WASD - Movement Mouse - Looking E - Interact Space - Jump

How To Play

Springfield Nuclear reactor is in Meltdown, Delay the Inevtiable by completing tasks at the control panel when they Alert you to!

A red exclamation mark will appear when a task is ready, You have 15 seconds to complete it or its Over. How long can you survive?

Tasks will spawn more frequently as the game goes on! Dont get overwhelmed!

Known Bug:

In HTML5 the first person controller glitches out slightly sometimes if you move the mouse too quickly. This can be fixed by downloading the game.

This game really reminded me of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and the jobs in Among Us. The difficulty was probably closer to Among Us. The game was engaging enough that I played as long as I got to test all the panels.

The art is solid although I do not know about the Simpsons theme. You could have easily just made your own generic nuclear plant theme without mentioning Simpsons and it would have been just fine. Now the theme feels a bit riding off the success of Simpsons. But this is just my opinion - the art is solid and as I said it would be just as good without the Simpson connection!

Looks very nice, well done!
I found it very hard time wise. I could always only finish one task before everything blew up. Even if I knew exactly what to do and was already standing at the correct spot when the task appeared.

@nash, Thanks for checking the game out. Yeah I took some inspiration from Among us with the tasks. I could have made it my own but I really wanted to do a cartoon style and originally I wasn't planning on doing it Simpsons Themed but once I started I ended up going in that direction.

@nikl , Yeah I wasn't sure on the Timings, I could usually survive around 1:40-2 minutes but having played it a lot in development I guess I was used to it.

We had similar takes on the theme! I even made a 3d model of the simpsons nuclear power plant for my game! I loved the graphics!

Thanks @larsdu, checked your game out too, great minds think alike! Wish I had done a full Model for the explosion scene, yours looked really good!

Really cool cartoony graphics, not something you see very often from 3D LD entries. I couldn't work out what to do with the six numbered buttons puzzle? Maybe some more sound to give the player feedback if they're doing the right thing? Anyway, cool game!

@extar, thanks for playing, appreciate all feedback. I should probably have added some guides on what each task was and some more sound feedback. The Number squares was a memory task. You had to remember the order the numbers were in, then when you press ready the numbers disappear and you press the boxes in the right order.

A simple concept executed in a really fun and lighthearted way. Makes you wonder how Homer gets through work everyday xD. The only criticism I could think of is it kept making me do the dial turning task back-to-back (I think 4 times in a row at one point) which got a bit annoying. Overall a fun and challenging jam game! Great effort ^-^

fun game, beautiful graphics. It would be nice if the start of the game was a little slower. So you hardly have time to take a closer look at the room. Great music.

"Minigame-style" games are always fun haha

The visuals and sounds are well made, I just wish there was more time to learn some of the minigames before the meltdown, but I guess the meltdown wouldn't wait for me to learn anyway heh

Good job!

Very nice game mini game :)
A bit too tuff for my taste, as I never survive long. The 6 numbers task is the most difficult for me somehow xD
The visuals are convincing, I just wished you would have more indicators for the reactor level. Doors that shake, screaming sound from the hallway etc.
The music is really good! Sounds like the Simpsons!

nice and small, I like it.

This is brilliant! Very nice minigames. I died. And died. And then I died some more.

Nice job creating the puzzles. Very stressful to play.
Somehow I didn't get to see it in full screen, but might be resolution related (4k).

Nice entries, the mini games took a bit to figure out but were fun. It was a bit hard timewise. Other than that well done :)

Good Idea ! But I found that there was not enough time to solve the puzzles

I tried several rounds now and yes, very nice game!

There are a few points though:

As you only got 15 seconds, I found it a bit mad that even in the first "round" two panels were activating at the same time. This is a point which I find in many LD games: The level of complexity or as in your case the difficulty starts to hard or increases to quick. Remember that a player does not know, what you do. They have to learn.

The second point is, I noticed that sometimes I am standing in front of a panel, looking at it and pressing "E" but nothing happens. After pressing E several times, the panel opens. I think you eighter got issues with your detection of the keypress, or the collider used to detect the player is sized a bit to small.

The last thing - but thats not an issue of the game and does not count into the rating - is, that the fullscreen button is not working correclty. Thats an issue in the combination of the used HTML-Template and the setting on itch. That just as a hint.

Solid visuals and sound design many different panels makes it not too repetitive. The difficulty curve was a bit steep, it should be possible for a new player to be slow and experiment with the first few panels but here if you did not know exactly what to do with ever panel as the popped up you would loose.

Exactly what I was about to write.
Everything else is super-cool. Good job man!

PS: I almost lasted more than a minute my last try (if I remember correctly). Wonder what is your highscore
