Futile Fire Fighters by Ziamor

Some forest fires just can't be stopped but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try! Enter the Futile Fire Fighter Brigade, the worlds most persistent fire fighters.

NOTE To move try tapping right click quickly, otherwise the camera orbit code kicks in. I would have liked to move the camera orbit to middle mouse, but due to webGL limitations I could not remove the page scroll event to stop the window from being moved as well.

There is also no audio, ran out time :(

Mechanics - Bolts of lightning strike, with the period between strike shrinking over time - Bolts set the forest on fire, and of course fire spreads - Wind assists with the direction of the fire spread, check the wind sock on the fire truck to see the wind direction - Move fire fighters to fire locations to put them out - Once only 30% of the trees are left it's time to call it, the forest is done for. See how long you can hold out before you need to leave.

Controls - To pan the camera, use WASD - To rotate the camera, hold and drag right click - To select a group of fire fighters, click and drag with left click - To select a single fire fighter just tap left click - Move selected fire fighters with just a tap of the right click

Changelog

-Fixed the camera back to normal. Due to a webgl bug(Which would send the camera to the shadow realm) I had to revert to using an older version but it has been fixed.

Loved the use of post processing for the visuals in this game.

I couldn't play because of a camera bug but I could catch the gameplay. Pretty cool. There is adjustments to do but I can see the efforts here.

Feels like a unique take on the theme and perspective. Nice low poly style. I found the controls very easy to pickup but I'd reduce the rotation sensitivity on the camera a bit. Would be aided a lot by audio I think. I got 92 seconds.

Love the graphics! I'm impressed you were able to make such a solid RTS in 3 days! To minor camera issues: you can go upside down, and if you rotate to be flat with the horizon, you're stuck and can't rotate back. Great job!

Futile Fire Fighting. Super fun found myself trying to beat my score every time. Tab selection for the fire fighters could be useful as it was hard to click them sometimes in the dense forest!

Very nice looking game. Good take on the theme too. Controls we're a bit rough - I found right clicking to move the units would end up moving the camera :( might have just been something weird on my end though.

I love the graphic, really cute! And the game is very fun to play with. The game is pretty hard only got 78 sec.

Very nice. I love the sense of impending doom the whole time. I did have a couple instance of flipping the world upside down (which actually added to the sense of futility!). Great job.

Great idea, amazing graphics, and nice concept that fit the theme. I found the controls a bit hard to use and more than once ended up with the screen upside down.

Not sure if sound was missing or if it was just on my end, but sound could have helped the mood and ability to know events happened significantly.

Nice idea with potential, but rotating camera and moving on same click was a tricky choice.

Love the art style. Camera movement are good and the game is playable.
It could use some sounds.

What a nice little game! Art is cute, controls are solid, and the game gets hectic really quickly. Which is awesome!
It would be interesting to have a bigger map with more firefighters and perhaps powerups and stuff.
I think some sound effects and background music would add so much to this game.
Overall a great submission!

I like the RTS feel of the game. I haven't played a game with RTS movement at a Ludum Dare before. cool idea. Tough but fair gameplay. I'll need to spend some more time with the game cuz I kinda just sent all the firefighters to the same spot.

Graphics looked awesome too!

Thematically perfectly fitting, as I really felt overwhelmed by the spreading fires :D

Cute visual style and intuitive game design!

Really cool game, which fits the theme very nicely! I managed to get to 70 seconds after a couple of tries.
One thing I would change is having different buttons for sending the units and rotating the camera. But other than that, very well done!

@stefan-laimer I wanted to use middle mouse for camera orbit, but webGL outside of full screen doesn't disable page scroll for accessibility reasons. So you would hit middle mouse and the page would scroll down LOL.

I really enjoyed the concept here, and I feel like you hit the nail on the head with your theme, I found myself constantly stressing about the placement of my firemen great work!
