 Kneel before the Supreme Leader of the Galactic Federation!

It has come to our attention that you are beyond ungrateful for the life you have been given on this puny planet. On this day, you stand trial for the unforgivable crimes you have committed.

But ah, you are in luck, for the gods of graciousness have granted you a boon! We shall forgive your atrocious sins, if... you succeed in completing these simple tasks!

:earth_africa: About

The Assessment is a collection of eight quick and hectic minigames inspired by the WarioWare series of games. Complete the tasks the aliens have given you to hold back their plans to destroy the earth. Crack the safe, scramble the eggs, sweep the mines, and remember to stay hydrated!

Great game! The first striking thing is that the game background matches seamlessly with the page background, it produces a really cool effect. While watching the intro scene I wasn't sure what the gameplay would be like and it felt like playing a bunch of mini-games was a perfect fit. All of them were clever and well implemented with good graphics and sound. The minesweeper one was particularly intimidating the first time through but it ended up not being too rough. Really impressive work all around, nice job!

Great game. I loved the intro and the graphics. The minigames are, some good and some less good, but overall a great experience. I could not figure out how to eat the sushi but hey, Il survive on meat instead. The thing I liked most with the game was the sound-design. Really good job.

Had lots of fun playing this, my only complaint is that I think showing the rocket between each mini-game can be a bit abrupt and ruin the fast-paced flow of the games for a 5 second cut-scene between each one. The art style was super great and I loved the audio as well. Great work!

This is the definition of the 5/5 in every aspect. I love this WarioWare vibe and mechanics. I'm amazed that you've managed to create such a beautiful project in such a short time. Hope that you guys will score very high in the ranking! You deserve it.

Loved the Intro, really great music and sound design.
Reminded me a lot of Wario Ware.
The transition between minigames could be way faster, as the sequencing took always equally long as playing a game, aside from that great job throughout.

Great game! Love the wario-ware-esk feel. My only real suggestion would be some of the games dont end when you are "done". For example the egg game lasted through the entire timer even though at the earlier levels i have gotten all the eggs. Also sometimes the eggs are pre spawned and i barely have enough time to catch them.

@crychair Yeah, we have some tweaking to do when the jam is over, and perhaps a few minigames to add that didn't make it in time!

Thanks for the feedback! And thanks to all others as well!

I really got a kick out of this game! I played until I was certain that I had seen each mini game because they were all so well done. The opening sequence reminded me of the giant heads episode from Rick and Morty but with a twist. I was most impressed by the smooth transition between games that kept the whole experience so fluid. The audio was also super playful and fit the excellent art style. Really really well done!

I love a good mini game, especially if there's more of them.
I really liked how they eventually got... quite hard. The game felt very well polished, and the mini games were self-explanatory (For some of them after a couple of attempts) Also the audio felt just right - All in all a very polished game - Nice job.

Thanks for sharing your game :-)

This game was SOO GOOD!

First game I think I'm going to download and save for later, would I like voices for the dialogue at the beginning but after the intro, seeing how much content there is... chefs kiss 5/5 all day everyday! Awesome job, great entry!

This is great! The art is super polished and nice to look at, the audio works great too for a humorous minigame project. The minigames themselves work perfectly and would be at home in any minigame-style full length project. There were also enough minigames and levels of difficulty that made them feel FRESH even if you'd played that minigame previously. Really impressive, great work :)

This was a very cute game! Really liked the minigames (even though I didnt quite understand the sushi one at the time) As I said on stream; I recommend being able to place the pan, instead of teleporting it back after the player lets go of it.

Thanks, now I hate sushi! :sushi:

I played your game on my stream today and found it cute and engaging. Quickly changing games I didn't have time to get good at kept me on my toes. I was just praying not sushi, not sushi. At some point theme went to the side for a while, but I didn't mind. Enjoyed the humour and sound effects together with unique visuals. Laster on I spotted Fresh Lady in the Art Gallery game. Cool find :)

Also I love how you made the game on itch.io page seamlessly merge with the store page background image.

@jamieok Thank you so much!

@ocwal The rover game was so cute, I'm glad you went with that!

@kaminos Yeah, making this type of game with only educational minigames would actually be a great idea as well!

@yogurtthehorse Well, if we need to challenge these particular aliens for real, we are probably doomed no matter who gets to defend the earth!

@sequoiadolce Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it so much!

just...wow! this was a freaking AMAZING entry! I found myself smiling at the end of it. Really creative and super impressive for a gamejam entry!

Felt really really polished. Couldn't figure out how to feed the guy sushi or how to hydrate the person, but this entry was amazing!

If a masterpiece of a game jam game exists, this is it. Almost everything is perfect. The games are all creative and unique, the theme is great, and the whole premise is spot on. Was there an ending? I couldn't tell. I just died.

Now, the most important thing: your audio. Holy crap this was fantastic. Seriously felt like I was watching a movie at times. This was fantastic, and I congratulate you for your game!

@sasquatchbstudios Thank you so much, glad to year you like the music so much! For the sushi game, you need to take it steady, going to fast makes the unsteady hand drop the sushi! And for the hydrate minigame, you lift the bottle to make it drip water, and the person is just a tiiiny bit thirsty and is satisfied by three drops!

@mateu Wow thanks for the amaizing feedback! So glad to hear it  We were going to have an ending but didn't make it in time, so for now it's endless. Stay tuned for the post-jam version!

Firstly, *very* nice touch with the page background perfectly blending in-I really liked that. Secondly, very nice entry! This is a good collection of WarioWare like minigames with a comedic story attached to it. I never played WarioWare games before, so this was a new experience for me-I quickly learned I sucked at them. The artstyle and music is also very charming and add to the games upbeat, comedic mood. Overall, good entry!

Already the intro blew my mind! You managed to build up and maintain throughout the whole game the vibe of these super early sci-fi movies while at the same time the game looks and sound super modern. I also love how the music slowly intensifies thoughout playing.

As a kid I often played a flash game that felt similar (minigames and intense music/animation between them) But your game just surpassed it in every single way! Visals and audio is way better and every minigame is better than the best I remember from the flash game (well except one minigame... :sushi: :eyes:)

Some thoughts on minigames:
* :bomb: The undetermined fields could be a bit easier to spot, but cool game
* :sushi: Hated it :joy: killed to many of my runs
* :bank: Loved that you put the blackout music in there
* :four: Would have loved to see if the tasks would get absolutely ridiculous at some point, but :sushi: killed be first

My favorite game so far of this jam!

Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for feedback! If you’d like to revisit the play and commentary you can view the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1448039280

Silly fun, excellent polish. I particularly love the intersection of the musical sting and TV popup animation with really excellent timing introducing each minigame. Just exactly right.

"That's not how safes work" - a couple of the minigames I had a little trouble figuring out what I was being asked to do.

"Put it in the square hole" - everything should go in the square hole as an easter egg

I enjoyed the nod to Scrambl'd.

Awesome game! The level of polish is spectacular, as well as the variety of games. The art is top notch, and the audio at the start was also really impressive. Looking forward to your next games!

Strengths:
- Top notch visuals and audio
- Incredibly polished mini-games
- Good balance ; I felt like I was given the opportunity to enjoy your game without struggling too much, and the time allocated to the games was short enough to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Possible improvements:
- The text boxes at the start are a tad slow

Fantastic entry!

It plays very well. After losing a few times, I seemed to figure out most of the controls (I'm to qutie how warioware which seems to be the comparison does in this respect). Probably some sort of hint hat the mouse is gigot to be sued for everything would be helpful.

Great presentation, very polished! Charming graphics, dramatic music, well done! Heh, the setup reminds me of the first Halloween episode of The Simpsons. The mini games are simple fun and not too hard to figure out. The aliens could use some alien gibberish audio voice, just a suggestion. Oh and one thing that bothered me: isn't the fire supposed to come out of the hole of the rocket, not from the "wing"? Anyway, good job!

Phenomenal. This game might have the greatest audio production of any jam game ever made. The gameplay was very tight and polished and it felt like I was playing an actual Wario Ware game. My only criticism is that the pacing was pretty slow. I think the difficulty should have ramped up quicker (like a Wario Ware game), but that's a minor nitpick.

SUSHI!!!! I couldn't figure out the sushi and never passed the combo lock =( But I still loved the game. Music is killer. The restart was perfect to keep the fun going.

Excellent page design, which is directly related to the game. You have expanded the gaming space to the maximum!
I especially want to highlight the number of game mechanics, it's cool! And they are all of varying difficulty.

Great project, you guys are great!

This game is great! Graphics & Audio are top notch. I love warioware type games and you guys nailed it. Even though I used mouse pad to play it, it was quite fun!

Btw combining itch page background with the game's background was a nice touch

Phew, okay. The graphics, audio, framing device, and overall polish were all amazing. The minigames themselves? Lackluster. There were no controls explained for any of them. And they just weren't that fun to play. I think maybe revamping and/or replacing some of the minigames would elevate the fun factor!

After Blackout comes this wonder from Fresh Games who are back at the top of this Ludum Dare! Impressive how a team organizes itself so well and in 72 hours they release a game that, being a little longer, would be among the best rated on Steam. Great game, congratulations to the whole team!

Super polished Wario-Ware style game! I loved the premise, the visuals and I found the microgames pretty intuitive and decently varied. Great stuff!

The Assessment was a blast to play! @starerik did a wonderful job on both music and sound while @okamit's art was just wonderful and silly. @frasse's programming made this a real joy to play too. It all fits together so well! If I were to think of ways to improve the game even more, I'd say definitely add more minigames. There's good diversity right now but I'd love to see more. Maybe there should also be more minigame-related sfx. That's all I have to say on that though. Excellent game! Thanks for sharing this on my stream!

Some of those minigames are just hilarious! Very good graphics and the sound/music is just awesome! Very well done. And you also managed to squeeze in a lot of minigames. Nice one!

Great game, really complete package and fun homage to wario wares and impressive it was done for the jam. The art and audio really work together with the games to have a variety but cohesive group of minigames.

Only some slight improvements since it's already overall a great job:

◾ Intro is a bit slow because of the text speed.

◾ Minesweeper minigame visibility on the interactable goals can be more pronounced, had a bit of trouble on this minigame the first few times.

◾ The sushi minigame was unclear at the fail condition with the feedback. All I figured out after a few failures is to just keep it steady but unsure if that was more focused on the speed or movement of the hand.

It is quite a challenge to do a Wario Ware like during a game jam ! Congrats ! The game is however a bit too slow.

this was a lot of fun, but i wasn't able to save the world after many tries : (

for being on theme, i guess it's impossible to save the earth, the games just keep on coming?

and while i get that forcing humans to play warriowares for no good reason is the point, i think the premise of "being ungrateful" and "horrible sins" feels like its trying too hard to come up with a reason.
i think it would be more believable if the aliens were more upfront about it, like "hello lowly humans, we're bored so we're gonna force you to play these games or we'll destroy your planet."

wonderful job with the art, animation, and sound effects! i love the old school orchestral sci-fi feel! really impressive polish!

feedbacks:
* intro text should be 2x as fast, or have a button to skip individual dialogues instead of the whole thing.
* i was never able to pass the safe. it's clockwise, counterclockwise past and then to, then clockwise again right? i found it incredibly difficult to move to the right number (playing in a track pad). most frustrated by this one.
* minesweeper - difficult to see where to click, and difficult over all!
* difficulty scaling on the egg scramble is rough, after the first one, i had eggs already falling as soon as the game began, and spawning so far apart it feels impossible to catch them both.

Great game! Enjoyed all the minigames and loved the opening cutscene (but like others have mentioned, the text can be slightly faster)

Mood, presentation and humor was great. Gameplay worked allright but was not my piece of cake.

Quality game anyway! Solid, didn't find bugs, easy to learn, polished.

One of the best games on LD50 :) I loved the intro. Super funny ideas for the minigames! Really good art style and music, sounds like from some serious Sci-Fi cinema:) I had a lot of fun! Excellent job!

Well made! I'm a sucker for minigame-based entries, and this one is high quality.
The soundtrack was on point, it felt like a movie. Theme was on point as well. All around, the experience was really well-rounded and fit the theme more than most entries I've tried.

Impressive variety with extreme polish. Maybe I just didn't get far enough, but I feel like there could have been fewer minigames with a bit more time spent in each one. They feel so short.

Love love love how your itch page's background blends in to the space background in your game

As for the game itself, while the idea is pretty much Wario Ware (even down to the general tone and art style of the games), you guys executed this exceptionally well! It's clear that y'all know what you're doing when it comes to making games, and you know how to scope well enough to add that extra bit of polish that really makes an entry stand out. Nice job!

Great music again! Like in the Ludum Dare 48 Blackout, you have created a masterpiece. And your intro is one of the best I have seen during a game jam. It’s pretty impressive how you integrated all those mini games. I don’t have really much space for improvements here. :)

Well done!

Awesome game! I really liked how the music was tied into everything that was happening (mini-games starting and higher pitch when the rocket was closer?). Some games were definitely easier than others, but I think that is part of the game, where you get 'unlucky', but sometimes manage it.
Sometimes I didn't understand the mini-games on the first try, but after one time you know them and could play again
Also smooth and polished animations and transitions
