Cool idea with a "Lord Putyn" xD 5/5 for humor. :P
Overall game is pretty good, I think that you should block player from moveing off the screen but it's just my opinion.

I killed Putyn and the universe is a safer place! A bit on the easy side but a nice implementation of a well known genre.

Dodging bullets was really satisfying. Good balance on bullet ship movement speed

I don't know if it was just me, but I find it too hard to hit the targets. Like, if it is even 2 pixels off it does not connect. And after I got the weapon upgrade, I did no damage (the bolts were moving through Putin with no impact animations)

Nice game, nice 3D sprites, especially for a compo game !

The game was fun to play, spamming bullets and collecting upgrades felt really effective.
I would have easily played 2x or 3x longer, just with repeated waves of existing ennemies.
It felt too short !

I'm not particularly sure that I get the theme in this one. Good entry, although I don't feel great about making light of a real world major event affecting millions of people.

Short and to the point. In terms of design, I think it would be better if you had either allowed the player to aim using the mouse or force enemies to shoot straight down like the player. Moving with WASD and using the mouse to shoot was a bit frustrating.

I did like the effects!

Don't get me wrong, the game is fun
but I feel like there are a few problems:
First of all I encountered a bit of lag when the first enemy spawned.
Also, the hitboxes seemed to be bugged, I found myself unable to hit some enemies even though the shots should have landed.
Lastly, I feel it's a bit weird to shoehorn Putin into this game... not sure if you were going for humour but it comes of as a bit tacky and I feel it doesn't have anything to do with the theme.

I still enjoyed the game, it's always a joy to see some 3D games made in Godot.
Good vfx on the lasers and I liked the ship designs.

Good work overall :) sorry if I was a bit negative.

The theme integration is somewhat weak in this game and like others have said hitting the enemy ships is a little too tricky. Graphically it's stunning for a compo game, but I don't find the 3D perspective ideal. Loved the weapon upgrade, wish there was more! Lord Putyn was hilarious, you could have made his ship even more prominent. Nice entry!

Fun space shooter! I like the art style. And the sound effects are nice. I found a bug in my first try where my bullets went through my opponent without doing any damage, but hey, whose Compo entr does not have bugs? :P Everything worked fine in my second try. I love that opponents can shoot each other! Few suggestions for the future (although I know implementing anything take time):
- music adds a lot to the game,
- more types of weapon for the player (triple-laser, some missiles, etc.)
- more bonuses (short power ups, temporary shields, etc.)
- in many games of these type bonuses slowly move down, that way there is easier to get them for the player, but also they go off-screen and disappear, so player have limited time to get them,
- in your game player can move outside the screen, that could have been improved, by limiting player movement to the screen or warping left and right edge of the screen.

Anyway, cool game!

@zimny11 those are really good suggestions, thank you! I already wanted to implement some of them, but you also gave me some nice ideas I haven't thought of. I will have to look into that bug :).

I like the take on the theme especially with the current events taking place.

I had a lot fun playing. The final boss "Putyn" is relatively easy to defeat compared to the other invading spaceships. If you align yourself in the center you can just hold the shoot button and defeat him without taking damage. (would be nice if it where that easy irl)

Overall great job. Thanks for your entry!

The game is really short, but I get it, only 48h :D

You can destroy the ships with their own lasers if you position yourself on the same Y axis.

Fitting graphics and sounds, some music in the background would do wonders :)

Really a nice entry! and f*ck putin

Really liked that you could make them destroy each other, and that you can also just cheese Putyn by standing perfectly still right below him

At first I got excited because I long ago made a bullet-hell Space Invaders clone, and this was much better implemented! Having a health bar instead of being one-shot killed was a nice discovery.

It took me some time to realize I could move up and down as well as left and right. Once I did, I found it quite easy to play, collect health power-ups, etc.

I laughed when I saw the final boss, and I liked realizing that I could shoot through the attacks.

It felt like a simple game, but once I read the reviews above, I tried to win without firing a shot, and it was more difficult, but I did it! I loved that the game allowed me to try. Well done!

@gbgames woah, that's awesome! I didn't realize it was possible to win this way :). Thank you for the feedback!
