made by poplart for Ludum Dare 50 (COMPO)

This is a game about travelling up from Philly to clean out a dying friend's apartment in New York in the year 1979. it's mobile and desktop friendly. Cover image is of my dog! content warnings for! character death, strong language, body horror, and terminal illness You can play the game at the link below. It'll be up until my local machine turns off, no idea when that'll be. I'm really sad cause I couldn't get music to play correctly most of the time, so check out the music link if it ain't workin. Peace!

Sadly, music is broken on duckduckgo mobile. I put a whole 30 minutes into the music though, so check it out in the links above  !

Music worked on Safari iOS. Nice to see an interactive narrative game. I liked it

What a title! Interesting to see a more narrative take on the theme. Aside from minor typos it was pretty good.

Quite the moody story. I enjoyed your implementation of the theme into the choices. I really did know where it was heading, but the choices allowed me to delay the ending in an interesting way. Music didnt work so I used the link instead, it's a nice mellow track that fits pretty well. I really dig the humanity in this piece.

That was quite an experience! The dialogue was well written and did a good job of making me want to try the options to figure out more about the story. I liked the variety of choices, and the music was very fitting to the game.

Interesting tech stack; I never heard of Ignition Maker. For some reason, it reminded me of some old text DOS games that I played. I think this would look amazing if you made this look like it’s played in CLI.
Too bad you couldn’t get the music to work, it’s actually very nice, especially for spending only 30 minutes on it. I liked the story - characters felt very human, especially Alan. I admire the way how he dealt with the inevitable. :)

I had this in my bookmarks to play because I was intrigued by the description but sadly your server doesn’t seem to be running anymore. Still gave you a rating for audio because the music was really nicely done and conveyed the (I assume from your description) somber tone of the subject matter, and seemed like it would work well with narrative gameplay without being intrusive or repetitive.

Thanks for catching that @dalep ! Machine ran out of memory sometime today, it'll be up for a few more days before I shut it down for good
