Omg I loved this game.
It was kinda hard at the beginning because its difficult to see how effective certain things are.
But once I got the hang of it, it was really fun!

Really the only criticism I can give is about player feedback.
Maybe give the enemies a little health bar and add a little number on every trap to show how much it costs.
Some balance changes wouldn't hurt either but other than that, that was a really fun game.

There is little player feedback, but this game is great! It is really like "What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord?". That game is great and this one is as well.

That was really interesting to make something complex but thematically cohesive and interesting for a jam!

Took me a little second to realize how the lich worked and that he wasn't just another trap, and what the scout did (really cool idea too haha!). After that it took some tries to figure out how to kill anything, had to go back to the itch page and read that the numbers 1, 2 and 3 activated traps. Wasn't able to get anywhere with just skeletons, so traps seemed like the way to go.

Really cool idea! a little bit of instructions on the title page could've gone a long way, but that's fine.
Really liked the art, especially the hats on some of the skeletons too 💀🎩

This was very good. Also somesort of cooldown for the traps would be good. Currently they are kinda red, so you could make them green, when they can be activated again

Bonecost and cooldowns for traps would be nice. also maybe timer for how long the wave is gonna take.
nice game otherwise. audio was too repetitive for me

Really appreciated the text instructions in the description, and game looked super interesting. Sadly, after messing around with wine forever, I was unable to run it on my Linux machine.

I was able to figure out the traps pretty quickly. It looks like a ton of the items people have mentioned here are likely fixed in the post-jam edition, so I won't mention those. I enjoyed myself a lot but found a pretty simple solution. I created kind of a 5 shape and littered it with fire traps. The enemies didn't really handle the corners well and the cooldowns were short enough to leave them bloody.

As for other bugs, I did notice that my bones went above 300, up to about 1640 by the time I stopped. My suggestions would be to try to improve the cornering (though I know pathing is a nightmare) and maybe allow for an enemy type that tries to break traps since I think that's pretty common in tower defense style games. I wasn't sure if they would just keep coming (since the theme implies they might) so once it looked like I wasn't going to die, I just exited. Would love to know if there's more that I missed.

Overall great job! Really fun to play and for the short time, the art style and music are fun - it turned out awesome. I hope you all continue to work on it and thank you for playing The Apocawiz and leaving feedback! :)

Congrats on submitting!

I really liked the pixel art here, really very simple and cool. I think it would improve the UI to help gameplay more, without a doubt it is necessary to read the description to play it without making it too difficult. great job, well done!!

Interesting! I've never been all too into dungeon-builder type games, but the art was nice and simple, yet it was easy to tell what everything was.

The animation was nice and bouncy and gave the whole thing a charming appeal.

Good job!

I enjoyed the game a lot! Very nice. Though it took me a while to figure out a strategy that worked.

Maybe some tooltips with damage/s would help. Also traps with different functions like slow or freeze would be nice. Cooldowns were too high and a little frustrating.

The pixel art was very nice. Very cute too! Just one thing. Please consider keeping the pixel size to one resolution (all squares have the same size and no rectangles). The art will look much cleaner.

Good job! Keep it up :)

Interesting, simple game, well made pixel art. It's sad that until the lich dies you can't expand your death track :(

I would give maybe a mechanic of gradually more difficult waves between which player can expand and modify his dungeon.

I would also change the music a bit to match the atmosphere of the game.

After I got no bones on the first attempd, I got a couple on the second and managed to create an un-breakable dungeon. At 1200 Bones I stopped activating my traps .

As far as improvements go, some form of indicator for when traps are ready, and maybe make reviving skeletons somehow a player action, but otherwise va lot of fun already!

I can't figure out how the game works. The only traps that I was able to get to do anything was the little skeleton horde. It also opened up Steam VR on my computer for some reason?

Visually it looks good and that little music loop is catchy.

Thank you for sharing!

Nice game! It is a bit hard tho. Adding health bars will make it even better. Well done!👍
